Now to the Vtec turbo.
I am playing with a metro turbo lump at the moment, just getting it ready to go in*smiley*
i needed a carb and i was looking on ebay for one for ages!
and then i found one in the back of my garage in what appears to be like new*happy*
So all good,
Just got to strip down the motor and see what it needs in the way of new parts, plus a bit of a play with the inside*happy*

As above ^^^ but from your first post, it's not quite clear what you have as you first say vtec then say metro turbo lump....

Are you swapping the vtec for a metro turbo engine ???

Or are they two seperate projects ???

BTW, welcome :)

a friend of mine has a vetec mini and although its quite quick up the 1/4mile its absolutly gutless unless you keep it on the boil. you may think i dont like the vetec but actually i recomended it to him as cheap reliable power and got him to stear clear of the A series turbo.

as for you doing minis for longer than most, well, you would be suprised at the age and experience range of people on this site

since you didnt buy your vetec, how did you cast the block?

We could do with an addition of someone such as yourself with such a vast amount of knowledge about the 'A' series and Mini's on TM.

Welcome *happy*

Just to make things a little bit clearer,
I sold me Vtec cos it would need so many mods to get it past 125mph that i thought it would no longer be a mini, i wasn't going to stick 15' 16' or even 17 inch wheels on it cos thats not what i wanted.
you have to drive it like you stole it all the time 5000+ revs with 13 inch wheels on to get up to 65mph-70mph so it was fun as a toy but that was it.
so now i am going turbo, different car and just getting all the bits together for my engine.
Just been messing around with a gtm turbo that revs like hell!
I am 47 and on my 41st mini!
Speed is god but so is road holding!!

Only 47 - you're just a youngster then.

Well slightly younger than me (but not by too much) although I'm not so sure about the "silvertops" description for us older ones.....

It used to be called Gretian 2000 (sp?), well, in my day...

But our insurance is a shit load less and we drive care full yeh right!!!!

That is the one thing I do like - the lower premiums, AND the fact I've learnt to avoid accidents... I just watch others now....

I wonder who on here has the most year's NCB.....

I won't start the bidding but, ignoring a single windscreen claim (which doesn't affect NCB), I'm in double figures :)
