Hi, what grit paper should I be using to cut the finished paint (2k) before I polish it?

2000 maybe? thats what i use? its quite hard work though, but i'm always scared of rubbing through!

u`ll there till next xmas with 2000 use 1000 Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

i use 1000, then 1200, then frekla g3 followed with frekla 100?

Virtually as above, 1000, followed by Farécla G3 then Farécla G10. (And be careful of the edges, of which there are lots on a Mini).

I wouldnt go any lower than 1200 tbh . then finish 2000 and as above g3 then g10

yes a 1000 does seem to much, I used 1200 once and couldn't get a proper proper shine back, it was probably me to be honest!!!!!

quick update. I didnt have any 1000 so started with 1200. Been a bit hit and miss so far, good in places not so good in others..

1200 soap and water, rub soap on paper as you start to sand, use a block on flat surfaces. take your time to get a good finish takes time not five mins.

100 comes up fine with a good buffer and cutting compound. cheers |

i've alway use 1200 then 1500, and alway do any edges by hand.

im finding that G3 is a bit harsh.. if the paints not bad im getting away with just G10 following a bit of a rub down with soapy water and 1500

I wouldn't go no less than 1200, specially on new paint. Lightweight racer coming soon. |
