Force Racing ICT Dept Manager Miglia Turbo Am frum Yokshyer tha noes!

Chaps, im off ill at the moment and bored out my tree! and with the tangerine nearing its completion my thoughts have turned to my next project. I have always fancied a rwd mini, but not one of these fancy bike engine types, a proper mini engined mini. Ive done a bit of searching on the net and ive seen someones pics on here with a front subframe in the back but i cant for the life of me find the thread! The main reason im thinking rear engine is for some drag strip action! Nice back end grip seems to be the way foward! Does anyone have any decent pics of a rear engined mini? These thoughts are in there early stages at the moment and im just trying to gather more info on the subject.

Babble over

Mike

You can copy how the GTMs are done, you can get most of the non mini bits too.

That is what I am running on mine. Alan on the GTM forum sells them. All you need to do is turn the plate through 180 degrees, so that the gate for reverse is in the right place. Oh, and you'd need to redrill the reverse light switch too.

if you do go down this route, my mate as an A+ gearcasing which has been converted to have the gear change come through the front of the box. He's done it the same way as Carl's twinny. He's not using it now as he's gone for twin bike engine instead

does the clutch master need a booster of some kind?
or will it move fluid the extra length?

cannot line lock the brakes. its needs to be a mechanical locking system to pass the MOT.

that is if you are going road legal i guess.

You have either got the option of drums on the rear, with a combination of front and rear drums, OR, I've modified my hubs (as have others) to take another disk brake. I'm using MGF as the handbrake is adjustable, but there are others that can be fitted. I think there has been X1/9s used.

come on think about it, the fluid will not change size.

as mini13 says, it will not make a difference it will just mean that the system will hold more fluid as it has longer lines.

All you really need to do is use copper pipe for the majority of the run, rather than hose, or it won't have a decent feel. Other than that it is identical to the usual mini set up.
