Ive just whipped my bonnet off to measure up my brace bars, and found oil and water everywhere!!

Squeezed one of the coolant hoses and water pissed out of the side of the head.... *angry*

Looks like there wasn't enough anti-freeze in my engine and over the past few weeks its frozen solid and craked the head.

Pissed off to say the least!

Cheers for the offer Jim. Im hoping thats the only place its cracked and its repairable. As soon as I saw it was -8 a few weeks ago I did think to myself, that I should drain the water out...first year I haven't!

I was going to go dry deck, so may be my opportunity now. *oh well*

my god mate, that's truly awful!!!

What sort of cost is involved in machining another head to go on? is the maching work mainly to the head or block?

I'm sorry for your loss, but I take it that this is a lesson learnt for all of you. All heads that come from the UK, are corroded to death because you people don't use antifreeze.

I'll try and take it off asap, the only thing im worried about is internal cracks that I can't see. *oh well*

The cost of a new head is about £350 + welding and machining. So not cheap!

Just hope my water pump, block, and turbo are ok now!

Lesson learned...
