So today i'm trying to get the mini started, got it turned over and got oil pressure.

I am running megajolt btw.

Now it's getting spark when the plugs are out and it turns over quicker. But when the plugs are in and you check, the cranking speed is obviously slower and it then produces no spark at all!

Coil pack wiring has been checked and VR sensor polarity is correct. The only issue that could be an issue is that the trigger wheel doesn't turn completely true and is marginally off centre :/

Would this be the issue?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Dan.

I reckon you could be about half a mill out of centre, but if the plugs are firing when they are out of the bores it sounds like some thing else, are the plugs getting wet with fuel?..

Yeah it's not a lot nala, but it makes it tricky trying the sensor closer as it could hit. The plugs are fine, i've been turning it over with the fuel pump disconnected for most of the time to prevent this.

It's clean dan, i will have to check the wiring again. Is the trigger wheel being off centre not really an issue then?

If your trigger wheel is out, could cause erratic or rough running.. Alan

With all plugs in the cylinder head and spare plug in the ht leads earthed to the head bolts. Should emulate them in the cylinder head.

Edit:
With regards to slower cranking speed.

That sounds like a weak spark then, do you know how far the trigger wheel is out of centre..

Ok that's good then! Just what's causing week/ no spark when cranking speed is low?

Coil pack must be ok as it provides good spark when cranking speeds are up.

VR sensor must be ok. Is it the Edis module then?

Set the engine to top dead centre on compression stroke with the missing tooth at 12 oclock, count back to the 9th tooth your senser should be set to the centre of that tooth.. Alan

Right we have tried feeding the coilpack with it's own battery, and this has made a much better spark. But still no starting!

I have checked the static timing and at tdc the missing tooth is inline with the sensor. Which is in position with the triggerwheels bracket.

At TDC the missing tooth should be 90 deg after the sensor shouldn't it?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

there is a fault here dan, i suspect a bad connehing or duffed coil pack and or incorrect wiring..... you will have to go over your work buddy ..... and then start looking at faulty items ?

the spark should be bright blue, get nala56... aka ALAN number off him give him a ring, will guide you through everything! iam sure
