Given how small filters are in some n/a applications, I'd say it is more than adequate for a turbo mini install.

What size have you got? I'd love it if I could get away with a smaller one!

70mm inlet. Its quite small but should be ok. I haven't done any calculations.

Does it have the extra guaze that people have mentioned about needed for turbo use? On 24th Oct, 2015 jonny f said:

Why do you need extra gauze for turbo use? It's not like the turbo creates a huge vacuum on the inlet side. |

Looks like the minispares one above.. its not too bad its just the fins etc.. just thought a fresh one would be best rather than try cleaning it..

Mine's the same K&N as Shauna linked. Like Dave, mine has got a bit battered through multiple fittings but has also sucked the top inward during the last few months of aggressive use!

Is that filter as filthy as it appears to be in the photo? If it can't flow air it will end up creating a depression in the filter and ducting. |

Where are you mounting them - do you put shrouding around any side that directly faces the incoming air so they don't get blasted with crud? |

Mines pretty much sitting on the bulkhead atm, it doesn't fit anywhere else without being in the way of something else (hence wanting a smaller one if I can) I think it's been cleaned twice in a year and a half. It's never got nowhere near as dirty as the e5tus has posted and my engine bay doesn't stay clean for long after I spent hours decruding it! I thought the whole selling point with k&n was that you clean them rather than throw them away and buy another? They don't die, they just get faster! |

There's kits like this for them, pretty sure euro car parts and places like that sell cleaner and oil for them too :) mines in the same place, we relocated my washer bottle to fit it there haha

Excessive heat can cause the rubber to go soft and lose its shape. Why the filters buckle like that no idea, but seen loads like it and I dont believe for one second it's because the engine is pulling too much air. 9.85 @ 145mph

I'm having big trouble trying to get some pipe/hosing on to the turbo.. The space is way too tight to get anything to bend nicely through 90 degrees. The wastegate is making it awkward but the main problem is the bottom hose, it's fecking near on impossible... I bought some 60mm silver flexible hose but that got mangled just trying to attach it. I was thinking about something less delicate like some rubber hose but the space won't allow anything in there without it kinked/crushed slightly... Any suggestions? Sorry for the hijack... |
