Just gauging interest...who still wants an alternator. Ive got some 40AMP ones that are identical apart from the connections on the back (and the regulator of course.lol).

I think ive managed to find a source of the oval plug so I will be supplying them with the wire connector and crimp fittings.

Philc the advantages of thesse are that they are tiny compared to the original alternator, have a higher output (I believe standard is 22 amps),

Nar the very old alts were around the 20amp region, the Lucas A127's start from 45 amp and go up to 60amp on

Im sure mine was a 22 Amp, I guess the Mpi's etc needed larger alternators because there are alot more electrical gubbins to power.

what I suspect he mean by "very old alts" is the old generators. they where 22 amp.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

yeah i have a feeling that 45amp is pretty much standard.

but for a track type car, 40 will be more than enough. i've got away with my 10A alternator for months without charging the battery and my battery isnt very big. thats no headlights on etc though.

Pete, the pulleys are removable, so I can't see why not if you've got the facilities to adapt the pulley you want to fit. *oh well*

I found a source for the 40A alternator plugs. But its going to take a week or so to get them. Does anyone want a 40A alternator?

£60 + £10 postage

The one I sent you has they same plug as a washer pump .

The ones ive sourced are for the oval type 40A connectors. They're are going to be about £3ish each depending on how many are ordered at a time.

that would do the job, but you would need to replace the pulley
