well she is ready for the final lift, do you reckon a few lads could lift this in situ bearing in mind the whole front end comes off ?

Sturgeo and I lifted my engine in, no problems.

I sat the car on the discs and put several building blocks in the engine bay.

Lifted engine onto another set of blocks in front of the car, then over onto the blocks in the engine bay.

Then lifted car to meet engine mounts, took the blocks out and worked from there.

Lots of grunts and you will be fine.

was just recalling the faff with putting the drive shafts in, i think i will jack the car up then as you say from one set of blocks onto the next, I am busy organising getting custom boost pipes made, th only joining peices i want is the plenum and the outlets on the cooler. i was hoping to bolt the pipe straight onto the turbo and not use the lil pipe doodad a guy i know who does me tig welding has a pipe bender and makes custom exhausts so i will keep you posted on that contact if its of interest to others.

well may summon a few fellas and get herniad to hell this evening methinks :)

well had a second crack at it and managed to lift the engine in. i am at the "try to make stuff fit" stage going with a front mounted rad, the oil cooler will go to the right of it, and the intercooler above the rad. its a maze of shit to negotiate through due to having a servo. i will get me cooler modded i reckon, i was thinking of having the right hand side(near the water pump) so it comes out the end of the cooler, not sure what to go for. here are some piccies though.

i should point out that everything is just resting in situ (rad etc that is) but it clears the alternator for sure.

right had half an hour to tinker whilst the wee man had a nap. think i have found what i want to do, i am going to run 2wd cossie cooler so i have a 4wd one up for grabs if anyone is interested.

thanks to Lizzards thread i saw how to thread the cooler pipes :) i will make the pipes one peice rather than lots of joins i reckon, only issues are the water takeoff on the head (i may have to mod the angle it comes off as it neeeds to go on the rad at the right hand side. and also on the take off is a stub which comes out towards the wing, what is this for ?

on tuther side i may have to make up some brake pipes i was wondering if braided ones with banjo type fittings would be allowed so i have to go read my books !

the DV take off if that is what it is, on the cooler will be cut off and blanked i reckon.

took yet more pics, and a pic of me home made center consol :) (sad man)

and finaly a pic to make the thread more interesting....Ooooh Jen your so fine..she just sits there in the corner of my garage like that !!

It's a pain to get these in with the servo.

I had the additional trauma of a steel front, inner wings and a side mounted rad to contend with.

It's not pretty, but this is how I squeezed it in.

Might help

Hi,
I'm sneaking mine between the head and servo as you've got it.
If you mean the very small pipe off the top of the stat housing that the bleed off pipe to the expansion tank *wink*

new problem with running front mounted rad is the pre engage solonoid on the started gets in the way !! DAMMIT !!!

i might run a 1100 rad but mount it front on to one side with a fan on the back. i have ran 1100 rads with big N/A stuff and it has coped well will have to suck it and see option B is to get the chiquaento rad cut it short and stand it up. the theory being using a more modern core presumably would have better cooling ratio than the older rads ?

Just twist the standard starter so the solenoid is on top. You'll need to drill a new hole in the clutch housing though! *oh well*

The chiquento rad is a good rad, and not all that much of a squeeze either. *wink*

I changed mine to an inertia starter motor and ground the clutch housing back. I'd rotate your thermostat housing too, that gives a bit more room.
