I'll second Ben's comments with painiting it matt black - and maybe you could 'paint' the MG logo on the intercooler in the appropriate place aswell?

Looks very nice - but definately needs to be less conspicuous.

It definitely gets more attention *laughing*

But since the paint would only be on the outside of the cooler, technically wouldn't the fins need to be black on the inside aswell for it to be effective at heat transfer?

Just a thought.

I think its more to do with the radiation of the heat away the from the outer surface of the intercooler as a whole.

The colour (matt black) has the one of the higher emissive values when compared to a hyperthetical 'black body' with an emisivety value of 1 and therefore emits more heat.

The US Reconisence planes 'black birds' are painted matt black to allow faster heat loss.

I suspect internally to the intercooler, heat conduction is more the key ??therefore should be matt bare alloy ??

Hope this helps

Cheers :)

Well i'm not totally convinced about spraying it, tbh I like the alloy look as the car actually looks like it might be quick now lol!

However, I may change my mind at some point in the future.

Thanks for the idea lads,

Tim

Would it be possible to get it anodised black?

the inside would be black then and it would be a nice mat finish.

Is there a problem anodising weld's?
