wow, thanks for the quick replies - i've recently bought a K1100 head, and plan on turboing it. If i'm honest i'm not 100% sure what im doing engine wise i'm trying to concentrate on the body for the moment.

Thanks rubicon - i have bonnet locks as apposed to the pins i think i need some courage to drill through the carbon :/

Cheers for the help Paul - looking back i think we spent more time breaking the pallet up than actually removing the subframe, lol.

Now it's out of the car (after a strip) i can have it blasted and re use it - the back off to welding!

Just a very brief update on the front subframe, after removal and the stanges up to being lightened.

thanks to the search button i managed to research all the work that went into the subframe so thanks guys :)

the only thing i saw mentioned but couldn't find any pictures for the life of me was the enlarged hole for the driveshaft.

when it came to looking into making it bigger, we didn't really see where it would be possible unles you went towards the back of the subframe?

So left that for the moment. If someone could give a brief explanation or a little picture it would be greatly appreciated.

Cool project, coming on nicely. So how much weight did you save from the front subrame? I guess what im thinking was ‘was it worth it’ ?

It's probably about time I updated the slow progress that has been made to my project car!

Although not alot appears to have been done, the stage of shotblasting the whole shell is getting nearer now. And i'm hoping this will not uncover any other areas that will need welding :) haha.

Since the last batch of pictures (before Pauls random ones, I had most of the panels done, but as i'm sure all of you know - it's the last "small" jobs that become the longest ones.

Firstly, before I post up the pictures, i'd like to thank Neil (Wolfie) for shifting my car to his welding friend about 10x in the last 2 months! - Thanks mate, really appreciated.

One of the first tasks was to put on the slam panel. I did have a heritage part but ideally wanted something a little different (and as I don't have need for the lock, it could just be as simple as a 90 degree ally angle and some holes drilled) Which it was :)

Next stop was some mountings for my seats (please do not look if you are seeking an example of lightweight development, lol)

Once the seat mountings were in place, I could fix the seats in to see where abouts i could mount my nitrous controller once in my driving position, after a few options I decided to have it on the right hand side just below the bottom dash rail.

A bracket was then fabricated to suit:

and it sat here:

While the seats were in place, the eyelets for the harnesses could be positioned and put in place:

A few months ago i treated myself to a few bits of carbon from the carbon weezel, one of the items was a rear parcel shelf.

I didn't really see the point in buying it and just sitting it on top, so a 30mm lip was left around the outside to allow for fixings.

another imtem i treated myself to was the clubman bumper and underrider set, must say im more than impressed with the quality and weight difference to original!

I spent this evening stripping out the last few little parts that were left in for bracket positioning etc. Paul aided in this, thanks mate :)

Thats all for the time being, but I still have a list of stuff that needs to be completed before the shell is ready to be stripped to bare metal. I'll try to keep this updated with any future stuff I do.

Any comments/criticisms/advice would be much appreciated. Even if its negative. As i've said previously, I don't have half as much knowledge as most on here - so if someone can see a potential problem with anything let me know so i can adapt it if needed *happy*

Cheers

Ollie

Edit: I excelled myself and placed the same image a few times instead of the correct ones
