Hi,
As far as I know there's no such thing as wastegate chatter, it'd some crap Clarkson spouts.
With no DV when you close the throttle the turbo continues to make boost.
All this pressure builds up until it stops the turbo dead.
This will cause the "drive shaft" inside the turbo to break.
Now your turbo is scrap! Possibly your engine tooif any broken bits from the turbo get swallowed.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

As Gav states............

Waste gate chatter is the waste gate trying to deal with this situation, however it cannot do so effectively, so the turbo shaft goes from many thousand rpm to STOP! in a few microseconds, this does the shaft NO GOOD at all and if it continues to happen will fatigue the shaft until it breaks.

As the guys say that noise is turbo stall or whatever you like to call it,

there is allegedly a phenomonen called waste gate chirp, I've never come across it but it is suposed to be the sound made by the waste gate valve when the pressure in the exhaust manifold is enough to cause the wastegate to lift of its seat causing a kingd of squeek sound, abit like putting your finger over an airline.

something along the lines of this, just plumb the outlet back in before the turbo.

Hi,
Most production turbo cars have recirc DV's. Cossies and Saabs spring to mind, may find something down the scrap yard?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Most MODERN turbo production cars.

VW / Audi 1.8T use the same Bosch recirc valve as SAAB etc. .... onther option.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
