Yeah - you only get one go. It's not a pikey fairground.

Rogers posts have been coming up double on a few threads, like with a while in between. I think it is a PC/website fault.

Anyway Carl(fast), what's the point in using stuff that is designed properly and works properly. We're British, we have to start with something that is totally shit (like a Mini and an A-series) then try and make it half decent.

We didn't win two word wars without a lot of bodging.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

I'm vary happy with my A series if it wasn't for the clutch and gearbox being the weak link. That's the only thing that would coax me away from it.

Hi,
I know you said the subby wasn't much of a problem, but then you've got driveshafts, sump, exhaust, inlet manifold, rad, plumbing and wiring to sort out.
Maybe not all those things, then again you could be unlucky!
Why not stick a std box and drops on it, run 9:1 and about 8-10psi?
I don't know if that's enough for what you want?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

main reason I'm thinking about moving away from the a series is a 5 speed box.

*Apparently* there is someone around where I live that adapts A series blocks to some form of moderish Ford gearbox. I don't know what sort of truth is in it but people keep telling me this.

You've gotta bear in mind the mini will have smaller wheels than the donor car and the benifits of 5 speed box are suddenly gone!

If your careful though and pick an engine such as a vauxhall (and probably loads more) there is big choice of gearboxes with FD's that are more suited to the minis small wheels

I suppose Thats another advantage of diesel, The mk3 golf Diesel engines cruise doing the ton at about 3600 rpm.

nothing wrong with it. its just and im getting a little fed up of spending money and stripping engine or gearbox every year etc also i spend all day fixing cars so its a bit rubbish to spend all weekend/evening doing it as well if you get what i mean. i also want to do a few further runs/shows in the mini and want quietness and reliability. i work for toyota so a toyota seem the way to go. starlet turbo has 130 bananas standard, i dont imagine itd take much to get a bit more. left standard and looked after i could fit it and forget it well unlesss im unlucky

p.s this is what makes TM good no biasdness just good opinion*smiley*
