This kind of set up is equalent to a turbo, so U need a sealed carb.
I made my M45 produce 19psi, so U can imagine what this does to a N/A HIF44!!

reply to paul s. yes got the pressure regulator vacuum line connected .
and running a metro turbo fuel pump.
thanks boz

Where is it connected? It would need to be connected upstream of the butterfly to provide enough fuel pressure whilst cranking against a closed throttle.

Normal connection is downstream of throttle.

as said, rebuild the turbo carb with new choke seals, put the plenum on, reconnect the pipework, connect up as in the picture shown a couple of posts back.

tonight we opened the carb and looked at the jet assembly, in the su workshop manual it says that above the jet bearing is a washer, that was not in the carb so we found a ali washer in a old rebuild kit and used that? checked it for flooding and nothing. so, on with the pipes and fingers crossed. fired up first time but cant seem to get it to run right. seems to be running quite rich and it revs up and down on its own between around 700 where its nearly dieing to around 2500. took the dash pot off and checked to see if it flooded but fine weakened the jet its now just above the base of the carb now. tryed again and the same,we tried to tune as you would a nomally aspirated car but not much difference one min its ticking over fine then it will start dieing then hunting, any ideas? is the carb a nacker? or is it just down to needle/jet? any help much appreciated and thanks again for helping so far such a relief to see it run with the charger. cheers

there is a thread on here somewhere that goes through the steps you should take when your car wont idle properly. gives lots of good things to look for. i remember oil in the dash pot being one of the things but i would try and find that thread. should be of good use.

Hi,
Try it with the charger pipe disconnected first, did you set the fuel pressure since rebuilding the carb?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Did you fully rebuild it ? I sell the genuine rebuild kits if you need one. :)
