I'd always recomend Dinitrol products for rust protection.

They do a clear heat / oil / salt resistant prayable wax ... and it stays clear!!!

That is the stuff to use, brilliant!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

www.rust.co.uk

look around there and you'll find all the part numbers / application guides for the Dinitrol stuff.

I get all mine from them as they are really helpful and friendly (counts for a lot in my book) but you should be able to get a lot of it from Frost.

Righto, the car is beginning to look like a car again now, not been at it for the last week or so as had some sort of man flu that knocked me for six,

Ive refurbed the front subframe and painted up the engine ready to go back in, then its just a job of getting the front windows/windscreens in and fitting all the burr walnut goodies and sound system.

Annoyingly, there is some 2 pack overspray going over a couple of inches on the headlining at the rear from the BAC who initially sprayed it, is there anyway of getting this stuff off?

I imagine as it has a full length sunroof it will be a nightmare replacing it?

Any advice would be most appreciated, any tricks of the trade?

Cheers

Joe

will give it a try at the weekend, see how it goes

anyone know what were front calipers finished like out of the factory? never seen a new mini, but guessing by most caliper condition they were bare metal?

have wire brushed them up and planning on throwing some black hammerite at them?

Cheers

Joe

Mine were galvanized but they were ones I ordered from MS new. Not sure if factory fitted were the same.

The front calipers had a gold passivate plate coating from new I think.

Well heres where its up to....

Engine is back in, but having a few niggles with the exhaust and rad, somehow i have lost all my radiators (had about 5!!), including the one for this car with a stainless cowling, top mount, and the switch for the leccy fan in the bottom...was looking for them for hours last weekend, but they have dissapeared which is slightly odd as its only really me with access?

Got new carpets and the dash looks great, but its only resting in place at the min, not sure how im going to squeeze it between the top and bottom dash rail as it looks as though the gap is about a inch too tight???

Also the 3 'legs' that are on the dash with thread to mount to the shell dont appear to have homes in my shell, will i have to drill these holes? or do i need to look harder?

This weekend Ill be building up the doors with glass/cards/handles/walnut goodies, fit the reconned hubs/brakes, and hopefully get the 6x9s under the rear seat, but the bastard speaker board i got off ebay is miles to big. already planed 3/4" off the top, but cant take anymore as the ill break into where the speakers will be, so having to remover the rest from the profiled underside...which i imagine is going to be a massive pain in the ass.

Wish me luck

Joe

well should prob say that this bad boy is officially on the road as my daily driver

had a few probs with geting the mixture right, but after sorting an annoying blow (messing up the wb reading) i blocked the part throttle lean off pipe and its running like a trooper now, especially considering its a simple 'stage 1' 1275

over the weekend i finally fitted the arches using ally M3 rivnuts and stainless bolts, and rubber fillet to stop them chattering

tonight i finished off the little bits and pieces, loose battery terminal, straightened the steering wheel, fitted halogen headlamps and wired up the spot lights (100w) and theyre a massive improvement over the usual candles.

all i have to do its apply touch up to a few scratches from the rebuild, and dinitrol the under arches (gonna use the 3125 stuff)

will post some pics of her in the daylight
