Hi,
I say that about the cam as I'm running a Piper 285 cam in my 1380 which has 100 lbft of torque, a milder cam wouldn't give that amount of torque. The extra capacity of the 1380 also masks the the cams "race" characteristics.
I'd go for a N/A MG metro cam or an Avonbar Ph2 cam, the second being less road based than the first :)
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Thanks for the input, I guess ill be man shopping tommorow..hehehe
another question, the standard metro turbo is a t3 but what axactly are to boost ratings and flow ratings compared to a garret? and i was to use another turbo other than mg metro what would be a good choice, because now ive got a t3 and a t4 both ballbearing turbos than im skeptical about.
Cheers

Garrett is just a manufacturer of turbo's - the MG Metro Turbo T3 is made by Garrett.

I know Garret is just a manufacturer but i didnt know who made the ones for mg, so if i was not going to use a mg metro turbo or garett what would be another good option?
Cheers

When I mentioned compression I meant are you setting up your NA 1380 for the turbo? Maybe I missed something but you'll need to drop your CR.

Im not shure if im going to do it to the motor i have in my mini now while i drive it everyday, but if i did right now my compression is 10.5:1 wich i think might be a little high but i dont know im new on the turbo scene, if i do need to lower it what is the best way to do so. cheers

Hi,
As you are looking to use the car on a daily basis I would suggest keeping the CR high, not using much boost and a mild cam.
That would give you a very wide spread of torque and keep the cruising fuel economy as good as it can be.
You're right in that a 10.5 CR would be too high, I'd suggest around 9 would be better, maybe 9.4 with an intercooler.
I can't tell you if you can lower the CR enough just by opening out the head chambers as that would depend on your pistons.
You'll need to post up details or maybe take the head off, then someone should be able to work it out for you?
A mappable ignition system would also be a very good idea, giving you precise control over the ignition timing.
Take a good look through the beginners tech and FAQ sections, these should answer most of your questions :)
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Will do, im already running megajolt right now and as for the head i can just get it dished out and if i got down to it replace the pistons with some dished pistons that cold put me down to 8.7:1 or so, i will have to keep looking into it before i just through something together and disapoint myself when i blow her up.. thanks

It's probably best to start from scratch with a new rebuild. If you were going to change your pistons to dished ones then you'll need a new block anyway if your 1380 already. Plus when you do that you can slip in a proper turbo friendly cam.
