looking very nice.

I had very simar work to you to do, and similar plans. Though the oversills ment the doorstep and inner sills needed replacing.

Interestingly, I'm a james and 20 too, must be a reason for the good taste!

Good point about the fuel lines and the cage, hadn't thought of that...:)

You just give the Transport museum a call and ask when it is avalible, you have to fill out some forms so its best to get fill out before you go. They only have one 1 hour slot per day for noise reasons, between 10 and 11 I think.

You will need some one with you to act as a marshall. You don't need track insurance, but you might need to tell your insurance that you are doing it. but just phrase the question to them as 'I'm thinking of....

Texas is great, fab weather at the mo, you graduated yet ?

Cheers

Sent out a couple of CV's but i really need to pull my finger out and get them away to everywhere i can think of.lol Would love to be a project engineer or similar but id take any engineering job to get my foot in the door and some experience.

Some quick pics off my mobile. I painted the floorpan inside and the backseat. Needs another coat but looks soooo much better. Need to do the boot next.

Also started putting everything on my engine. Id forgotten how bloody tight the bay was!!!! Its going to be cram packed when my intercooler pipes etc go on.

Plus iv changed my mind about intercooler location. Think im going to mount it similar to where it is in the piccy. tucks it away and i should be able to get a cold air feed onto that hole from the front behind the grille. Might make up a cowling too.

Also not sure on oil cooler mounting, think i might have to do some cutting to the front panel to fit it in behind the grille.

Started to make my dash too, just using the old one.

Cut holes for dials.

Bought a heap of leatherette:

Covered it with contact adhesive which was a right paint to try get bumps out as it was solid. Its far from perfect but it will doo until i can afford a carbon fibre one.

Also painted most of my cage, needs a bit more paint and some polishing but its red.lol

Heres the headliner when i first put it in:

Bit tighter:

Started gluing it in a min ago. Hope it works out ok.

Also started doing my cooler pipes, heres a rough idea of how it will sit. Not great, but im looking at getting a bonnet with holes sometime in the near future. Prob a carbon fibre one.

headlining is looking a bit taughter now, waiting for clips to do the back and front as the glue stretched it and made it difficult to do.

Also painted my dash rails black and fitted them:

Some nice shiny bits arrived today.

A genuine KAD quickshift and a a Specialist Components Engine steady bar with Rose Joints at one end and and bushed at other. Its really light too.

Nearly finished the headlining.

Also fitted the backbox and centre pipe. just gotta fit the downpipe now and il have an exhaust. Need to cut the downpipe to size tho.

And yes im changing the backbox for a centre exit one from minispares when i can but this one does the job. Cant wait to hear it. it was bloody loud on the 998 tho.

Well, spent today doing the cage and making up plates. Its in but not secure yet as i need a new drill. I scratched hell out of everything inside when putting the rear in. What a bugger. Its in now tho. heres some shots. Also notice my quickshift and the dash starting to come together. All the lines are going to be routed properly next after the cage is bolted down and then the carpet fitted.

Got new dials. indiglo ones. Fitted them but wont be able to test them until i fit em to the car really and wire them up.

And the dimmer switch which i thought was kinda cool.

Painted my dash binnacle black instead of covering iit. came up surprisingly well considering my painting skills.

I mounted my oil cooler in the front this morning and iv bolted in my cage apart from the front legs. Will do them today. Then once that is done, il run the lines in the car properly, lay the carpet, fit the seats, dash and rest of interior. Then its onto the doors.

Well, all the pipes are secured to the floor. Gave the floor another coat of paint. Been painting seat brackets and what not today.

Also, dash is starting to get there.

Also been butchering my new colum stalk assembly to fit it.

Cheers guys.

Carpets kinda in now. Still needs a few adjustments but what a difference its made! Glad i went for carpet instead of just metal floorpan. Got to make up an aluminium plate to go round the quickshift.

Also wired up my indiglo dials. Just to see what they would look like.

Must admit im rather pleased. They have got to be one of my favourite purchases so far.

What do you reckon.

Hehe, yeh, i know. Im looking forward to it with or without the mini. Altho having the mini there would be ace.

Right, so i had these blank door cards. Was wondering what to do. Hmmmm.

Yep, thats an idea and a half!!

Mmm, getting there. Still got to finish em.

Also, here it is with two doors on.

and stalks.

So i got both of the door cards cut out today and i managed to polish one up. it has a few scratches in it unfortunately that i just couldn't hide but im quite pleased with them tbh.

And my Freeforms:

So, the windscreen and rear window are in. Both seats are in, rear cards are in, rear arches are also fitted. Oh and the intercooler route is now decided.

Boot and bumpers fitted now and i also reversed it outside.

Well, arches are nearly fitted. Was awful having to grind the nicely painted wings so the wheels would turn properly. just need to make up brackets to hold the front bits on.

Reversed it outside and lay the bonnet on to see what it would look like. Im pleased to say the least. Seems to have come out quite well.

And....how tiny is it!!!lol
