Cortina? Blugh what are you on? Lets face it, the Yanks gave us only one good thing, the V8. Therefore V8s should only go in American cars. That said a 5.8 Clevland will drop into a Cortina, they were sold as 4.1 sixes in OZ and South Africa.

Yank stuff is too big for this country, and anyone a Cortina is a lot better than an Escortof which there are millions.

But I'd donate my left ball to medical science for a '69 Dodge Charger 426 Hemi though!!*happy*

The MK1 & 2 Escorts had the most success in Rallies. Try finding an RS. I think the Lotus Cortina is the only desirable Cortina.

BDA lumps were abit more reliable than the lotus. I'm sure the RS1800 had an alloy block. Been a few years, so maybe wrong.

Isnt the BDA lummp the base off the 4x4 serira cossy?

Nope, Based on x/flow block. Belt Driven 'A' series I think it stands for.

Sierra Cosworth was based on the OHC Pinto engine.

A RWD car is only fun, if you have somewhere to use it.

Otherwise, it can be a serious risk to your license with todays anti-car, anti-enjoyment world.

Dont forget that aspect. Playing in a field car is great. You can abuse, crash, do whatever you like, and it costs nothing.

Try the same on the road.....well, it isnt always as fun.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Good point stevieturbo. Especially nowadays when theres not many affordable RWD's about, people are lacking the experience of them. Different ball game to FWD.

Edit; Even my Transit has almost caught me out in the wet.

Sooo True..I find there are two types of TurboMini passengers

The ones that giggle uncontrollably... (e.g. My wife in the old Mini!)

The ones that turn white Hold on to something and scream at me to slow down (Actually thats also my wife in the New MINI!!)

There's actually a third type: me. For some reason I tend to just sit there looking like I'm about to doze off.

Strange I always thought: RWD Mini = Midget.

I can't say either is "more" fun to drive, they are just different.

Im definitely getting a rwd car next, probably as a daily driver. To have fun in aswell. Keeping the mini for the weekends!!

I love Ae86 corrola's but theyre way to expensive for me, a mk2 escort would also be great, aswell as an opel kaddett!

But i reckon a 318 e30 would be great! Especially styled with some nice deep dish bbs rims and lowered alot they look sexy as fook *Yes*

There are so many 318's etc around my house at the moment and as stevieturbo points out most of the time they are sideways. They are getting a bit chavtastic I'm affraid.

i have an xjs witha nice tight lsd for going sideways, but i much much prefer my mini for hooning around. the jag is fun but there is nowhere to proeprly enjoy it. the mini can make me smile on any road at any time. and i fi had to sell one it would be the jag in a hearbeat. Its cool to hang the arse out, but you jstu cant do it when there are other cars or obsicles around. well i cant, value my lisence too much.

as above 200sx s13 or early s14's are cheap as chips nowerdays, 1.8t or 2.0t sub 7 0-60 and 150mph rwd with an lsd as standard on anything after 1990, and only about £1k more to get 300 bananas (100-130 more than standard)

my s13 is not the tidiest but has about 280 bananas and cost less than 1k all in including rebuilding the engine! but like a few people have said you need a big empty road to enjoy it properly.

volvo 940....

I recently encountered one in the wild that was very low , had a full roll cage and went like the clappers. I found it to be quite cool..

I have looked at the space under the bonnet..RM do a crate 747 CID V8 ( that be 12.2 liters)..i think that i'll work quite well.

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system
