The engine is out, I think I have a big end bearing problem, Though cannot see how, See topic in help needed section,

On the other hand I did 20 miles and it didnt' blow up, and everything was tight upon tearing apart. I have not been scared off engine building.

Right, I am going to put the engine back together again soon, and have just ordered some more plastigage to double check the bearings.

I also took all your advise and have had a good chat with another engine builder, and ordered a piper 285 scatter cam. so will be ditching the 276.

Apparently it is more drivable then the kent 286... But time will tell.

I suspect it will go back in soon as well, due to the weather being so shit at the moment we are well behind with harvest and I think I'm gonna be sent home for a week or so till we get going.

as a side effect I'm gonna have to sell my reading ticket because we wont be finished before the festival*frown* Sorry bit of a rant there but what the hell.

I put it all back in yesterday and fired it up today.

It has all gone well and the cam works very well. Pretty smooth idle, and pulls hard from 3000, though havent strayed much over 4000 yet.

I just want to get the weber and megajolt sorted now so i can get it to the rollers.

i wouldnt say welding is necessary on a weber box, def on a turbo box that cuts into the cross member though

i can see where joey is coming from though because it is on the upper part of the bulkhead and there is normally the hole there anyway, where the wires go through and the plate that is screwed there.

Definately a strange one but i would say they would fail it because of the fact that the bulkhead has been cut, not thinking about what is there anyway, if you get me?

yeah never thought about it like that, i supose as with many things when it comes to mot time it depends on the tester, but personaly i would weld it, for what 30minutes of prep/ weld i dont need to worry about it any more:)

stuck the weber on yesterday, fuel consumption is now crap but fucking hell does it sound good!

Just need to get on and order the megajolt now, then off to the rollers.

Hi,
The MJ should bring you some MPG back as long as the Weber is jetted properly

The weber has been stripped right down and rebuilt with all the correct bits. not by me though, as I'm not too sure what to do.
