...yep i did it on my 1litre turbo, i stripped it down but there was no damage.

Mine was running fine in the garage, then i turned it off one night, went back the next day and the engine was siezed solid. It had slotted down and locked everything solid in the night.

I took the gearbox off, got it out and was running again by the weekend!

thanks guys, pritty bummed out about it but got to move on, going to make the best of a bad situation. Plan is if the crank is damadge im going to get a stroked crank and go larger! all comes down to if the block is damaged then its deciding where to go. Would like to get a straight cut box but they seem mega money.
Going to get the engine out on the bank holiday monday so more pics will come then.
p.s. any one got an engine crane i can borrow around the leicester area? lol Mite buy one will get good use out of it! lol

right, engine out. going to get it apart tomorrow. I am wondering if the block is damaged and is scrap to go down the 1275 turbo rout with a mirage manifold set up. Just need to find out how much it would cost for the turbo and other bits.

I bet you swore ALOT8-) Always look to the future when SH-T goes badly wrong, I bet you laugh as much as you're mates when you tell them. Just get the engine out salvage the good bits and use it as excuse to build something better *smiley*

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

right had a look in it today and it doesn't look good. Crank is definaly scrap and so it 1 con rod and at least 1 piston, the skirt on the bottem has been hit and im geussing from looking at it that its gone up and down the bore scoring a nice scratch in it. so the block would need a re-bord but you can't cos its already 1380. so looking like the gear box, block, crank, 1 piston and 1 conrod is dead. more or less the hole engine.

Need to get my hands on a 1275 now. What i am wondering is take a Std 1275, rebuild it with turbo pistons, get the compressor ratio down on my head which has 36,31 valves. use my MJ set up, and all other ancilliaries. get a mirage turbo manifold set up along with a T2 and go down that rout.
Could do with help on specing this engine up please. Need to keep build costs down as this was a unexpected blow up.

Thanks

Hi,
That should work, you'll need to change the cam, unless you had something mild. Measure the head, work out what CR you want then get the right dish in the pistons *wink*

Gavin :)

cam is scrap as well. So i'l have to buy a new cam for it. Whats a good CR to run a turbo set up? What work would you guys recomend having done on the bottom end past balancing?
Do the mirarge down pipe line up with a maniflow center pipe? I've got a 1.75inch systerm with a 2inch end pipe will that be large enough?

cheers

Hi,
2" would be best as it'll fit straight on :)
Centre main strap wouldn't hurt.
Your CR will depend on who much boost vs what your going to use it for...
Cheers,
Gavin :)

all out and striped down, Crank can be saved, cam and block is ok as well, 1 piston is shot and the oil pump. So the engine can be saved but its going for a full rebuild. so looking like i will stick with the 1380
but i do have a supercharger sitting in on the work bench mite take this opertuaty to supercharger it.
