hopefully mot wise, there is still the front to do but its not fail-able imo,
its gonna stay vermilion red but i fancy black wheels with black roof and arches (and a black square on the door) but dunno if i dare go that drastic lol

bit of a step backwards update, the recent hot spell was loverly but the 30 mile (excited) pull up to carls on the sat (27degC) i thought just caught him before overheating ( and slowed down) oil pressure has been low since 55-60 on fire up, 5 when warm idle if that,
changed the oil today to find alot of bearing
cold start of 40psi and alot of knocking i think he can stay off the road for abit

i said earlier in the thread he might be the donor shell for running in the new engine, i think he will be now

bad times indeed but i have been expecting it, John how long have i been saying its on its last legs? honestly i expected the gearbox to go first and have been collecting bits for that :)

im not planning anything for the engine untill its in bits unless a short block turns up cheep im focussing on the tubby engine i need thrusts, cam bearings, deck skim, and rotating assy balancing then build it up less turbo

after a trip to the machine shop and to order the bearing for the turbo engine, the copper stuff my gearbox spat out is some sort of thrust ( not main / bigend bearing as i thought) and i think that is gearbox related, it seems to have damaged the bearings though oil pressure is still down,

i have a 1l lump to go in, not payed for yet but i think the deal is done :)

sounds like the lay shaft thrust bearings have taken a beating, easy enough to sort out.

engine swapped out today, no pics of the new engine as phone died, but its bright yellow*happy*

the front is cut out ready for the front mount ( in the close future as my metty rad is a little too far gone)
inner wing cut out for an electric fan on the side mount rad for now, it was very rotten anyway
front wiring sorted out, and a new front brake pipe made up, as it was crusty then i hit it with a grinder anyway :(

well a quick update, done about 40 miles on it, goes great but the fueling was whey off so i set on to turn the needle down, with winsu as back up, the needle in the carb was ADS very lean imo, i took the measurements for an AAB and coppied that but leaving it leaner up top
it went well, strong idle, good on the top end but alot of leaning out at part throttle so i set on to richen it up, could not get enough fuel in there no matter what i did, so i disconnected the part throttle lean off pipe just to see how much difference it makes, it went from of the scale lean ( afr20+) to 11.2afr that is a big lean out and alot bigger than i expected, the leanoff pipe is now blocked totaly, making the needle way out for the entire lot
anyway a couple more hours down the line, i have a profile im happy with but i cannot get it leaner than 12.5afr from part throttle 4000rpm onwards, ( due to the cock up)
not to self: always block the part throttle lean off pipe *happy*

it goes well anyway, john i cant decide if this is a 3.4 or 3.6 fd, it seems to pull up through the gears faster than the mg 1275 bot not going any faster as a result im gonna have to clock it on the motorway to be sure, gong to get the fueling sorted first though
