Not trying to be funny Dave but you make me LMAO the way you question everyone except yourself.

The volume was taken from a compressed gasket measuring 71.8mm x 0.69mm = 2.79cc
I hope I got the calc right.

It's an old BK450 and my calc seems to come close to the volume spec at the link below not that means much being from MiniSpares *wink*

That's true enough - I was just using the figures posted by stuart.
Left all my old BK's in Manchester!

Have you got it to hand then? I'm sure I noted once that they aren't exactly round - that they 'oval' slightly where the firing rings come into proximity with each other... It might have been a copper gasket however. Man my memory sucks.

As you can see from the HUGE picture *surprised* the centre two volumes would be smaller due to them being in the vicinity of the narrower portions of the gasket. The outside two seem not to be as effected by the end parts of the gasket when compressed and so maintain their shape better.
And i know it's not a gasket normaly used on a turbo but it's all i have laying around.

Sorry about the size but i couldn't get the clarity any otherway.

450 gasket ,
cyl 1 73.08 along the block73.89 across the block,
cyl 2,,72.16/73.64 ,,cyl 3 ,,72.14/73.66 ,,cyl 4 ,73.36/73.82//
therefore cyl 1 averages out to 73.485 //
cyl 2,,72.9avg/cyl 3 72.9avg//cyl 4 73.59.
overall avg 73.21mm
gasket thickness of fire ring next to bore on used gasket .94mm,therfore volume avg is 3.95cc.

group a gaskets should give exactly the same volume as standard because the extra fire ring is compressed down into the recess machined into the block , and after all its just a standard gasket with an extra fire ring fitted over the standard one
