The only multicar policy I have is for the Union Jack Mini, the unique Canadian spec British Mini and the Metro - fully comp on all three with a named driver with points for £116...

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

I recently took out an admiral multi car, at 21 with 4 years NCB on my 98 civic vti-s 8k pa, and the mini limited to 1k miles. came in at 1200, split down I was told 700 for the civic and 500 for the mini. I didn't think that was too bad as when I passed my test to insure the same mini cost me 1800 (with admiral).

Tom, did you pay the whole year in one go? I was told on the phone if you pay monthly on the multi car the cost goes through the roof!

i think there is too much margin on where you live.

Is the insurance based on car thefts in the postcode? or is it general complaints to the police about vandalism and nuisance?

I'm band "A" which is nice, but what actual percentage difference does it make ???

ie, how much more is the highest band against the lowest ???

10% ???
50% ???
100% ???

I've never really thought about it before but the info doesn't seem to be on that website.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

I would expect they just use a random number generator....

We found Admiral multicar was fine for a year, but after that my wife could do better elsewhere (Galaxy, full NCB). I carried on with them for another year (which was chepaest for me) but we are both with Direct Line - my 2.0 Alfa 156 was around £250 with them. In looking around at= insurance for everytihg from a diesel Fiesta thorugh to a BMW 330 was in the £180-£300 range - but then I am over 40!
Oh, and I paid around £95 to insure the (turbo) Sprite with the MGOC (1500 miles).

Truly terrible typing in last post. Sorry. And looking at the postcode lottery webpage, we are in a 'B' zone

I used to pay 1200 on a 998 when i was 17 then 1500 for a n/a 1330 now its near enough 3 fucking grand! My own fault really.

I had an insurance quote on a fiesta ST £2200 (which was relatively good at 18) so i brought the car 2 days later then it went up to £3500! apparently the rates had changed because of the month ending had me by the bollocks really.

Then again i am only 19 now, price youve got to pay for a quickish car at a nippers age.

Me, my brother and his wife are covered to drive any car/ride any bike, fully comp (insured by someone else or not) with a maximum individual claim of 15K for damage to the driven car, plus up to 20 named cars/bikes covered for our own full time use with the same value limitation for an individual claim. Price.. £1600. Traders policy obviously.

Harder to get these days but as long as you have premises, or any commercial ish sounding address you can get the paperwork sent to, it is possible to get one. Certainly cheaper than insuring the cars we have individually.

Cover isn't as good as individual insurance policies, but as we can all keep it out of the scenery generally and are happy to take the risk of trashing a car and getting paid a bit less it works out fine.

Works out very well for us as we have loads of cars only used a few days a year each.

Insurance takes the piss at times and it doesnt surprise me why so many people choose not to have it.
At times it seems like a lottery. I tried to insure a 1.1 metro once, i got a quote for £200 which was good but i didnt decide to buy it until i bought the car a couple weeks later. Got a quote again....... nothing less than £600. Never bought the car in the end!

My renewal with Admiral was more expensive than the previous year, that is the first time that has happened to me. I've gone to Adrian flux, I'm paying £460 for my Audi 80 2.8 quattro with lots of mods declared and 6 years NCB, £280 for my Audi 2.8 Cabriolet on a classic policy, limited to 3k miles. My Cerbera 4.5 is £780 limited to 5k miles a year. Neither of my Minis are anywhere near being on the road but when I did have a working turbo Mini it was £316. All are fully comp and I'm 25.

My slight knock has pushed the mini insurance up from 380 to 500 quid so not sure I'll bother this year, and just use it for track days.
