From my experience of "interesting" boost levels, the head gasket was the first thing to go. There were no signs of detonation & the timing was not heavily retarded, though the mixture was run on the rich side as a precaution.

well a 25psi pump will allow you to easy run 20psi boost!

But sure, a 45psi pump will let you run 40psi boost if you has the need!!

I seem to have started a pointless debate here. I was trying to say that a 25psi pump would be all you would need, period, as 20psi boost is generally more than enough.

We generally run higher psi pumps because we need the flow they supply.

Jimmy, before you get too bogged down in the old 30 psi thing, I thought I would direct you to a useful post I did ages ago, (as mini1071s), all about boost and air flow which I hope you will find useful :)

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=5876

And here as well, looking at boost and airflow and what they really mean.

Maybe the threads could be edited and put in the FAQ if anyone thinks they are useful.

Good luck with the project!

Peter
