First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

ah, this is because 998s dont usually have timing chain breathers, just on the tappet chest

you could convert to 1275 style i suppose and run the timing chain and flywheel housing, im sure you wouldnt have a problem

if your buying a timing chain cover try and get one with a flat breather off a later car

It would mean drilling out the big breather hole on the flywheel housing i think because i dont have the threads for the bolts there or anything. wish i used a different flywheel housing now doh!

Hi,
You can drill it out if your carefull, I did mine. Use plenty of grease and drill slowly *wink* Once you've got the breather itself, you can use it as a jig to drill and tap the two bolt holes.
More breathers the better!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

All this drilling and tapping!!

plenum needs doing, then breathers, whatevers next!!

Ive never done it before and dont have the equipment, i might have to ask nicely and take a trip to the tool shop and then to benross HQ to ask him how to drill and tap *happy*

Machine Mart do a set of imperial UNF and UNC taps and dies. It is not too dear, I think my set was less than £20, also good quality HSS taps, not cheap and nasty carbon steel.

This set is ideal for minis, once you have one you will wonder how you ever managed without it! Great for cleaning out tight rusty threads etc, as well as forming new ones.
