PAH bollocks to MPG, that is what my diesel is for, fun cars should be for FUN and not for watching the fuel gauge. When its empty fill the fucker up and be done with it. People ask me "How much is fuel near you" My answer is always the same, I haven't a fucking clue, when its getting low I put some more in.

That is my two pence.

Anyone had a go at running their turbo mini on lpg? Higher octane, but a little lower on power, unless you inject it as a liquid into the manifold, where it's reporteds as giving 10% increase in power over conventional petrol.

Under 40 pence a litre at the moment.

I wouldn't risk it, when my Dad's LPG Range Rover starts to get low on LPG, it goes lean and starts misfiring, you can get away with that on a V8 Range Rover as they are not exactly the most stressed engine in the world. However if your turbo mini started doing it on full boost it would be bye bye pistons before you knew it..........

lol i'll second that. 99% of the time its just here to have some fun in, but my old colt ran out of t&t so its been promoted back up to full duties!

i'll dig out a pic of the sensor bracket feebs but tbh i only made my own because tom hadn't finished perfecting his ones.. if they had been ready i would have had one of them!

You're not alone Peter.

It has always been my objective to create a car capable of at least 40 mpg and a 0-60 under 7 seconds.

I believe this should be possible with the turbo 998.

I travel to Lincolnshire every week, 100 miles each way, to my current place of work.

I used the wife's Mini 35 this week for the first time. It did not take any longer than in my Focus 2.0 and I arrived with a smile on my face! Plus I must have got around 45 mpg.

When you are doing this sort of mileage, it matters how much petrol you use.

lol, cant say id like to do 200 miles a day in my mini! id be deaf within the first 20 miles! i realy need a 2.9 diff, the 3.44's starting to feel a little short realy.

i've decided to rebuild my sisters 998 while its sat up here in my shed, i gave it a quick blast down the lanes round here before i sat it up and i forgot how much fun they are, it just wants a little bit more umphh. think ive got a couple of 295 heads round here somewhere one of which desperately needs a skim, so i'll get that done and change the cam a little, it cant be over the top because she spends a lot of time in town when she actualy drives it, but i know she drives it like nigel mansel when im not watching! so a bit more top end wouldnt go amiss.

Hi,
I'm looking for a bit more economy now I'm going up and down the motorway on weekends. I've got a 2.7 diff, but if you've got to do 300 miles in a day, 25MPG isn't funny! I'd use my motorbike but I can't get the truck on the back *wink*
Cheers,
Gavin :)

If you want MPG, leave your Mini well alone and buy a cheap diesel of whichever flavour you prefer........IMO!

Fenton, go wash your mouth out with soap!

To suggest that any real motoring enthusiast should go and buy a fecking diesel is an insult *happy*

If you believe in the Mini you should use it as much as possible.

If you need a high mpg car and a racer, just get two Minis!

Preston On The Brook

Standard SPI with RC40m back box and K&N filter - 38MPG. Ran the tank dry, filled it up, ran it dry again, filled it up and worked it out bang on 38mpg and that was without trying, combined driving to with a bit of motorway at 80mph, lead foot country road driving and round town crusing.
