I see you are going got the half metal half glass option. Are you going to just but joint them where they meet?

That's pretty much the plan, I've seen a few where the FG fits over the top of the steel arches but that seems to require the steel arches being slightly shrunk and set back which seemed like too muck of a pain at the time.

what you can't see from the photo's is that I've folder the inner wings back over on themselves to give me a nice smooth edge and make them similar thickness to the FG wings.

I dont get it, is that a hillclimbing rule, at least half the wings?

The blue book says the cars must be all metal between the wheel centers but there is an argument that the wings are not unitary and therefore they don't need to be steel.

Nothing exciting to report, I had a massive loss of motavation and came very close to selling up. Today is the first time I've really touched it in about four months. Discovered that the connector for the gear linkage is made from the hardest substance know to man.

I'd better bring you something to destroy, nothing raises motivation like wrecking something.

Are you about in the evenings this week?

Well after four months off and almost selling up I've got back into the workshop and made a bit of progress.

I've managed to find another 3kg weight saving by removing none essential body work, no pictures but I'm sure you can all imaging what an absence of metal looks like.

I also redid the gearstick mount and braced up the steering column as I wasn't 100% happy with them.

I should be around most evening but it's best to give me a call first as the local pub is doing to meals for a fiver all week so there's a good chance I'll be round there.

I was thinking of a CF rod myself, if I can find one but the stock steel item won't be staying that's for sure.

Mine is alloy tube with a steel insert for the roll pin threaded into each end which I intend to change for titanium at some point

I seriously doubt it!

Just a little update, been working on the rear beam having got some brackets made up by Tom (Advantage998) which I'm very impressed with. It's not quite finished but it's getting there and more importantly I can pick it up with one finger!

Yup will be making some complete beams all welded up ready to go and can supply brackets by them selves, just need to get the time to get them assembled.

Just run across a slight problem with my beam, I can't unbolt the arms, doh! I've found a way to sort it and I'll post some pictures up shortly.
