Hey that's not a bad price. Not too far to go and fetch either.

EDIT: Even better, the price includes delivery.

been putting off buying one, and trying to decide between a cebora pocket turbo 130 or a butters 130

http://www.toolbaydirect.co.uk/product_inf...=1321&catid=283

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Butters-130-Amp-Mig-...id=p3286.c0.m14

the butters is considerably cheaper, so leaning in that direction, if no ones got anything bad to say about them then im gonna go for it....anyone?

Spec. looks good, the only thing not mentioned in the eBay shop is whether a gas regulator is supplied ???

Might be just an oversight but worth checking.

This lot (click on the spec sheet)
http://www.migtigarc.co.uk/MIG_Welder/mig_welder.html

...specifically mention it in a way that looks as if they've added it to the basic spec.

I think that the Cebora would be worth the extra. They seem to have a good reputation. As do Butters, but when I bought my TIG the same machine with a Butters badge was twice the price.

I've put the Portamig 185 on my Christmas present list.

No, you have to email the eBay seller.

PM me your email address and I'll forward a copy of a recent quote.

Cebora certainly make superb TIG welders - mine is every bit as good as the Kempi machines we used at work (and Kempis are real pro stuff) - and the reason I bought it was that one of our coded welders said it was the closest you could get to "pro" in the "hobby" market.

But MIG isn't so clever, so you may just be paying for their name and reputation with a MIG.

The specs of the two you posted are very similar and both are "hobby" - neither has a Eurotorch for example so you will be stuck with the OEM for any spares apart from the tips/shrouds.

EDIT - ooops, posted this before seeing yours, but I think I said what you're thinking...

im thinking of making an offer, but would this be too much for delicate work?

I can honestly say I have no experience at all of Kempi MIGs.

The coded welders at work swore by Kempi for TIG, particularly the small portable machines, but, being coded welders, MIG was a swear word to them.....

I didn't even realise Kempi made a MIG !!! their reputation is for high quality TIG, at least where I worked.

Looking at the spec on Kempi's website, with 8 step control of voltage (rather than the 4 steps of your other two) thin metal should be no problem even though it's maximum current output is higher.

I now use a 235A Sealey and it only has 6 output settings so I have to use the wire feed speed to "fine tune" it on thin metal, but I still get much better results than my old SIP 150A with 6 settings.

It's not 100% clear from their website if it has a Eurotorch, but the photos I can see on another site certainly look like the right connector.

List price on mainland UK is £700 so WAY above your first requirement but it looks very nice.

Even before an offer, I would INSIST on viewing it and testing it, esp. on thin metal.

Sorry I can't be more help.

if its of any use i was going to offer around £450, as im not fussed about the mask and gas regs, and this way i can try before i buy as you say

Go for it,

If it helps in your bargaining, here's the UK mainland price I found

BUT, try it out first .....

I have been using sip since my first MMA which I got for my birthday at the sweet age of 13 :) I find there cheaper stuff crap but if you splash a bit there stuff is really really good I have a Euro 240 here in the garage in the mig and I have the TIG 210 both are fantastic machines the TIG gave a small problem in the last couple of days but they are looking after that with no fuss what so ever. I cant praise there stuff enough I have the 12" metal cutting band saw a beast I have the milling machine a tool box full of there air tools there plasma 160 Mig mate 150 and there 350L air compressor and out of every thing never a problem.
regards,
Paul.

Shame he would't drop - if Kempi's MIG's are as good as their TIGs then, as you say, very nice bit of kit.

Let him stew for a couple of days......

http://toolstoday.co.uk/shop.php?sec=prod&prod=42819

im massively pleased with it, its unbelievable compared to my knackered old telwyn & tradesmig
