Surely a compression test would highlight any problems without pulling the head off??

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

ive done a compression check, one is very slightly low, but nothing to worry about imo -3 are on 145psi, and one is 130psi

if the cr raises its the rings if it dont its the valves
maybe..?

it wont be the fuel

That's 10% down Nic. Maximum variation is 5%?
EDIT: You say new head, you've not fell victim of the guides too tight syndrome have you?

Mines been fine since I opened the Manganese guides out. Yours sounds similar, runs fine for a while but when I gave it some stick it missed, then a min later it was fine. this came and went.

If you can get hold of a stethoscope and drive with it clamped to the rocker box its easy to hear the extra noise caused by the binding valves.

Right!

Enough is enough, its time to take the head off

Will there be obvious markings that the valves have been binding, or will i just have to hope that this was the problem with no evidence until its back together?

Try the cmpression test again with oil in the bores and see if it makes a diffetrence first mate.

I did
They all went up by a fair bit, 180 psi or there abouts, i think no3 was still slightly low, but i cant quite remember the results now, but it seemed to tally up with what was there before

number 3 i would suggest pulling the head off examine the valve seats and run a 9/32" reamer throught the guides Nic
