My 1380 shows 155 at Baldwins. God only knows what it really is but Pete said its the most powerful n/a 1380 he has seen.
There is no way you will get 9 horses more than my engine without going 1460, nitrous or turbo

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

73.5 bore. It was to keep it within the 1420 capcity in grass tracking. It once belonged to Miss Brown..

My 1293 made just over 100 at the wheels litrally just.

lost 18 through the gearbox, quite a small loss. to be honest.

So your mate made 137 bhp at the flywheel on a 1380?
it can be done but its gunna cost you an arm and a leg. billet steel everything. pointless if you ask me.

And how does a billet bottom end help with power exactly?

Owen Developments @ Kingston Bagpuize nr oxford, they dont get many classics there, its mainly jap stuff.

tbh id say its 95 at the wheels as it does seem a touch optimistic with a 296sp.

The head has massive ports and massive valves, abit too big if you ask me (Shroading and all that), sizes i wouldent know but i do know the exaust ports are offset. or so i was told.

currently its running with a hif44 as it seems to like the cold abit more and a reasonably modified head stage3/4.

i had a head gasket failure so i need to get the other head skimmed before i bolt it back up.

It doesnt, past forged pistons i cant see the point, But a fully worked crank and set of rods is somewhere in the region of 500 pounds. so why not if you can get them at a resonable price.

I don't think yo can get a fully worked crank for under £1000, I suppse it all depends what you call fully worked.

i didi a rough calc a long time ago now , , and it seemed that if you knock off 25 % and add around 18 to 28 bhp losses ,depending on your box spec, you get a reasonable crank figure at baldwins.this is pure speculation cant be proven by me and so on ,blah blah .eveyone rushes off for thier calculators . *hehe!*

i should also add , that the accuracy of the numbers when it comes to setting up ,are really immaterial, far more important is consistency and taking accurate air temp and barometric pressure readings to correct the settings back to a standard if testing on different days , or if conditions change in the same day of testing ..
as long as a rr can take 3 power runs and they all run within a bhp of each other ,then it can be used as well as any other rr ,it then comes down to the operator ,and baldwins appears to have an excellent rep ,as shown by the no of race cars that go there .
