No, not at idle - give Rob at Minisport his dues - he knows his stuff and has worked wonders with my car in the past!

Keith, I'm surprised you didn't already have the poppet valve sealed up - that was the first thing I did before turning the boost up.

With regards to running the engine in - don't run it in if you can only drive it to 3k rpm. The car needs to be driven HARD for 100 to 200 miles to bed the rings in properly - don't run it in the pansy way, the rings won't seal properly.

going to take the carb off tomorrow and solder up the valve, but i don't think it will make much odds for the amount of air getting sucked in.

stumped!!!

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

The intercooler is right at the front and i have some holes in the bonnet for the air, the oil cooler i'm not that sure i really need, so tucked it out of the way so as nor to overcool the oil. I may remove it yet. Anyway, its MOT time tomorrow so wish me luck, trying to get this sorted for castle combe this weekend, i may drag it down for a run anyways.
This is how it looks at the minute with the cooling holes .

Went for MOT and passed no problem, couple of advisorys, wipers dont touch the windscreen for some strange reason, headlight alignment is way off, other than that, its fine. Its now taxed MOT and insured and i am on the road with it, feels really quick even on half boost, so just got to get some miles on the clock before it goes to the rolling road.

In the garage......again!!

Been a while since i last posted, had trouble at combe last year and the car has been off the road until last week, basically had the engine rebored again to 1310, new accralite pistons, Benross full ported head, elbow and manifold, set of straight cuts drops. running it at 5psi until i get some miles on it.

Its a bloody handfull now!.

In the garage......again!!

had another session with rob at minisport today, some new problems have arisen, i seem to have too much vacuum on the ignition timing and not enough mechanical advance, so the conclusions are it needs a tailored distributor or go megajolt and have an ecu control the timing which is the way i was going to go in the future, its just come round a little too soon for me. Any way, rob did a sort of power run by limiting the terminal speed to 75 mph via the rollers, nailing the throttle in fourth pulled 78bhp at the wheels at 7psi boost, anybody roughly equate this to engine power?.

not bad going, i can rember seeing you at combe just before i took mine on there, didnt somthing go wrong with the actuator ro somthing and boost shot through the roof and broke things? bad times at that glad everything is sorting its self out.
as for ignition i think most people now are going for mappable ecu as its so much better than a dizzy, saying that i think the twinni is dizzy run

Thats right Paul, i blew the head gasket and in my rush replacing it in a field, i didn't notice the actuator pipe fouling the fan slightly. It ripped through the pipe on the start finish line at full throttle.

In the garage......again!!

Its been an age since i posted on this, car has been running great, had a few issues with a sticky primary gear thats all , had it rolling roaded last year at 133bhp with 9.5 psi recently had it to a dizzy 15psi but decided to drop it to 11 as the guy who mot'd it said, and i quote ," its fucking deadly".
Castle combe is lurking again, lets see what occurs this time.

what exactly do you need to know, the measure for the bulkhead box cutout?.
