For insurance mate try HIC (ring 01279 50 60 90 and can get straqight through .... much better than the 0845 number...)

Can't wait to see the finished car .... love the colour.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Here it is. I still have to put the passenger seat in, but its more or less there now. I have sorted the few bits that needed doing for the mot so it can now become roadworthy.

some pics

Edit: Sorry their not very good, I will take some better ones soon.

That is a really nice colour and I like that fact that it has a nice simple, clean look. I don't think it will pass it's MOT with those arches and those wheels though!

Thanks for the positve comments

The arches wern't picked up on the other day when I was at the garage. I have had to cut loads out of them both metal and plastic to get full lock with a bit of suspension travel.

They don't stick out much and I also really like the under arched look. Its not as if it has no arches at all. or the wheels are sticking out 2 inches.

I am impressed with the quality of the paint considering it was sprayed in an unmasked dark garage on a wet day with a cheap paint gun.

Nice to know you all like it, I certainly do. I have spent a day driving round grinning like an idiot!

I have had to lift the rear a bit because it was bottoming out. And set the shocks a bit harder but other than that its been faultless.

mini13, you have pm.

Hi,
Looks nice. I like the understated look about it. Now bung a fire breathing turbo motor under the bonnet and you're sorted :)

The fire brething turbo motor is next summers project. when I can afford to rebuild the turbo engine. My insurance premium has now risen to £800 with HIC so lets see what it will fall to next year then I will make that call.

The main reason I started this project was simply to create a structurely sound platform for what ever I want to do to it in future (turbo it). Thing is the only thing I haven't done to it now is to turbo it. The specification of parts fitted kept rising.

How on earth did you get to £800 for insurance with HIC??????

My policy is £108 (122bhp 1380 NA), Candice's will be £268 but then she is just a young un with only 2 years NCB and her quote was against a 140bhp turbo with lots of destinctive parts and an agreed value in excess of £6000. Doth of those are fully comp by the way.

Really interested in how they came to £800, give them another ring and make sure they haven't made a cock up!!!

I'm 19 which explains the premium. The cheapest quote I found anywhere even with the previous modifications was 650. That was assuming they'd even insure a yound driver with a modified car.

Now with more mods and increased value. flux wanted about 800 too. I have 2 years no claims, held licence 2 years and also had insurance 2 years.

Robbery!

Rich. I didn't spray the car, a mate did. I might be able to have a word though.

Ok 19 explains it!!!!

I'd suggest that you might need to wait till your 21 before dropping the turbo in.

You have told them that your an active Mini club member, read all the magazines and have subscriptions, go to all the shows and do all the work yourself haven't you.
All thise things will help drop the premium.

Can you limit milage at all? Is it all belled up?
