Interesting, and you are correct Robert. GT17 and Ph2.

Go on put yours on. It'd be good to see the difference.

What boost what Nick running there? I think the most I used on the day was 16psi the first two runs were on 9-10psi. I whimped out because I'd blown the head gasket 2 days before when setting it up at uncle rays.

yup looks like nick was running about 1 psi less than you gary so that figures ,with your line being a little higher than his .

with equivalent boost , id expect his to be a bit higher than yours on that rpm with the bigger turbo .

my run overlaid...

but ,as you can see , im running up to 19 psi in the middle then down to 17 ish at the end , so not a direct comparison .

what cc is your engine gary ?

robert *smiley*

edit , just to add this

these are the rd speeds measured on the runs , im using a 3.1 diff , I think gary is in a 3.2 ,so that means nick must be on a 3.44 or small wheels ?

anyrdup , these trq graphs are with no losses added , so rd speed will affect the comparison a bit , the higher the speed the greater the losses , roughly 100 mph is 15 bhp losses ,and 125mph is 25 bhp losses .

1340cc. It was freshly built and only just run in at Smart.

Probably wasn't in the best tune here though as I'd backed off the timing to help ensure I had a ride home. Tamworth is quite a journey for us Essex boys.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

What sort of power is usually made in these turbos

Now that's an ambiguous question.

Or do you mean, what boost is used by a typical OEM application?

gotcha , I think that extra 30cc may be helping you spool faster .

Robert... Just been for a look through my PM's to see when i got my head, I still hadn't fitted it at the end of sept 2011 so both of those graphs would have been the old head.
35x29 iirc with unwanted pinholes in the chambers so ghetto water injection *wink*

those were more than likely on a 3.44 with 10" wheels Robert. I have run it with a 3.1 a fair amount though so can't be sure.

Am I correct in thinking that you have to modify the bulkhead for the GT20 because it's a larger unit than the GT17, even with a matty/mirage manifold?

Forgive my stupidity as I feel this may be a dumb question.
Would these come with an actuator?

yup a 3.44 would make sense for the rd speed be good to see your power with the new head job ....er..

Sort of confirms the theory, at least initially.

hi paul , just to confuse things more ..

boost rise at nms ..

the dynocom run took 7 seconds . .the nms run took 15 seconds .this meant there was time for the turbo to respond and build boost ,a longer run ,say 25 seconds would have made more boost low down and achieved terminal velocity sooner .

oh EDIT to add , the difference in boost rise between the different boost levels was due to me having the choke out on the 2nd and 3rd runs . this uber richness cooled the exhaust and made less turbine rpm.

So Jimsters run at NMS should give a direct comparison.

When were we at that rolling road in Wellingborough? The one with the Don there too. I remember you being fobbed off for ages for the memory stick with all the data on.

If that was after sept 2011 then it'd have been with my new head.

Found it, this was with my new head on a worn 1293, ph2 cam still and probably a 3.44

Devs lead has drawn a blank. The £270 turbos were the wrong units. I will try my contact and see if they can do anything.

Anyone else want to try, I have found a source. But the price is way beyond what I would consider good. Probably more like the wrong side of £400.
