Did you have the clutch properly adjusted - ie the arm isn't hard up against the 1/4" (7/16 spanner) adjusting bolt on the flywheel cover?

Did you use two (six total) driving straps or three (nine total)?
Did you machine the backplate lugs to 23.5mm as reccomended many times?

If you used two straps, AND did the backplate mods, then you simply need a double grey as you have more torque than even an 'optimised' single grey can handle...

me and kean both machined our backplate lugs down to 23.5mm the week before Avon park as keans slipped at 15psi. After it was modded and the spring sat flat the clutch was a lot lighter and no slipping at 165lb/ft for me anyway.

enter 23.5mm in the search field, tick the 'thread body' box, and there are several posts about it.

I had to run my grey with the bolt wound into the arm - to get enough clutch movment to disengage :S

I never did work out why!

I had the wierdest thing this year - maybe related - but that's not to say i fully understand the reasons....

I too have always had to wind the stop out, such that the 'free play' was taken up - and the arm 'resting' on the bolt, but not under any force.
This year, i haven't needed to adjust this once - and the arm is currently sat around 3mm off the head of the bolt. EVERYTHING is as per last year - except that I bled the clutch as I'd slackened off the braided hose on the top of the master to re-orient it.

Clutch hadn't been re-bled for a good few years previously, but i NEVER remember the clutch being like it is now.
Very strange indeed!*oh well*

i've always had grief with mine. I bought all new clutch components arm/slave/plunger/pins etc and still couldn't get enough travel on it. ended up jamming 2 nuts inside the slave to get the throw i needed.

The pushrod length check is always my first port of call in any dubious clutch shenanigans...

its all stripped out

should i replce the plate? it looks in good nick (should do for only doing 50 odd miles)

could it slipping have caused any damage? also how do i check it really is the AP race/rally over the Rally/road
the plate is a little shiney and has a far amount of dust in the grooves

stowmaket suffolk

plate should be ok.

just carry out the usaual checks.

on the not enough throw issue

check clevis pin on the pedal for were and make sure you have only about 10 thou of adjustment on the bolt and no more.
plus give it a good bleed.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

I made up an adjustable pin as mine had worn down, one of those things you end up having to do to get to work the next day.

Also My Wok is heavily vented, so much that I can see the release bearing, I just wind out the stop until the bearing just starts to spin. seem to work so far, but that is on an orange plate though.

The AP organic road/rally plate (the best) is dark charcoal grey - the 'road' one is a shiny biscuit brown.

Best not to have the throw out stop wound out so far as to have the release bearing spinning all the time, this will lead to failure of the bearing in double quick time!
