its a standard metro turbo. im only using a facet fuel pump at the moment but the can get the pressure right on idle and im only running it on low low boost at the moment cos want to sort the idleing out. i have a bosch pump off another car which can tak up to 10 bar. so i could use that but i have an inline fuel filter too and when the car cuts out the fuel filter is still full of fuel so i not sure if it is a fuel problem or not. |

Give the mixture screw one turn clockwise and see if you can get the tickover lower. It might be running too lean.

How old is the carb? Worn old carbs can cause problems and be difficult to diagnose. Do you have another carb you could fit. A NA one will do just to check and eliminate it as a problem if nothing else. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

Make sure the exhaust isnt blowing at all as this has stopped my mini and metro from idling correctly. |

doesnt appear to be air leak as we sprayed stuff all over pipes and doesnt seem to affect. its got dark now so we will give some more ideas a shoot tomorrow. we redone the valve clearances today and few inlets were slightly out and it didnt cut out when i drove it after that but its dark now so i came in and didnt get chance to try and get idle down but so far it hasnt cut out when lay off throttle. |

just fort let u guys no after alot of different ideas and checks it was a dodgey amplifiier. it is weird because the car drove fine under boost and above 1500 and norm ally the amplifier cocks things up under load doesnt it. so if anyone else experiences what i did then check the amp. it would have saved us lots of hours . |

By amplifier, do you mean the distributor electronic module or something else? Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."
