1st to provide proof of a running Bimmy Conversion!

i just whipped this thing up the other day for motorkhanas/hillclimbs/autocross events, it`s Yamaha R1 powered, 140(ish)Hp & very lightweight.

http://madmatt.bigblog.com.au/data/1/8412/...60829123221.jpg

But then i got to thinking that maybe it could use just that little bit more power, so i did this--->

http://madmatt.bigblog.com.au/data/1/8412/...60829123221.jpg

Turbo charged 4.7litre Alloy V8

Hhhhmmmm,,, which one to use??? should i build 2 buggys, one with the R1 & another with the turbo V8???

or should i just fit 2 Turbo V8 engines into the one buggy with one engine in the front & another turbo V8 in the back making it 4X4 & over 700hp???

please make my desicion for me as i`m stuck... Maybe i should build a whole fleet of them & make my own race series *smiley*

The R1 powered thing is driven like this--->

http://madmatt.bigblog.com.au/data/1/8412/...60830235315.jpg

except i have 2 bearing carries on "EITHER" side of the diff assy, have to support the pot joints seperatly from the diff carrier to allow the diff to work & stop it ripping the whole thing outa there *smiley* so basically there is 4 bearings in total (2 per side)

& the turbo V8 "THING" is simply using Austin 1800 inner U/Js , thru morris 1500 axles & finally into 1275 mini disc brake CV jooints.

http://madmatt.bigblog.com.au/data/1/8412/...60829125556.jpg

it all seems to work ok & that Turbo alloy V8 power unit is actually going into my speedway mini for testing purposes, but i really do think i`ll whip up another frame buggy for it to go into anyways. should be fun hey?

Oh!!! & yeah, i reckon i`ll have to take my teeth out before i drive it, saves loosing them on the track somehwere hey? *smiley*

Oh yeah, i have an even better one for what you`re on about,,,

Just imagine (If you can) a go kart frame, (slightly lengthened) Then dump a turbo Busa engine into the back of it, now straddle the engine with a foot each side of the donk (basically just mount feet plates/pegs slightly above rear axle height) & then lay face down , head first... grab a set of handle bars mounted at the front of the frame for steering, clutch & front brakes (ala motorbike) with gears on the left foot & rear brakes on the right foot (ala motorbike) then you effectively have the worlds lowest & fastest quad-runner.

Easy to handle really as you can manouver your body around to weight jack the thing for cornering & also when it comes time to gas it up, then you really do get a proper "wheel stand" ,,, in other words-> you really would actually be standing up *smiley*

& don`t worry, you heard it first here & it really is becoming a reallity, i kid you not!!! I`ve allready started it & will definately finish it (it`s just way tooo easy to build)

BUT!!! I`m just not quite sure if i`m mad enough to actually pilot the thing *smiley* (pilot being the approapriate word here) *smiley* It might just end up as a display on the wall.

If you can imagine the very best power to weight ratio of just about any 4 wheeled vehicle on the planet & basically less frontal area than anything anywhere, i`d probly call it a bullet.(mainly cause you`d just have to die if you drove/flew it) others may call it other things more ressembling swear words tho, but that`s ok... describing it with swear words would only be compliments to my idea/workmanship *smiley*

The GixxerKart has Nothin on this "Thing" *smiley*

as unlikely as it may sound this concept was thought up about 20 + years ago by trevor langfield , of highpower nitrous sustems,

when he was having a BIG clearout prior to supposedly moving the business i noticed a strange framed contraption in amoungst all the crap.it turned out to be a rear engined bike powered thing with the pilot laying head first encased in a rather feeble structure,
in fact the two mambas i just flogged to Vegard where mounted on a narrow solid spool axel off the rear of it,
it was going to be his demonstrator for his nitrous syatems, using old british bike engines, lol.

Interesting Carl,,,very interesting,,,at least now i know there are others out there much like you & me *smiley*

Trevor Langfield was obviously way ahead of his time *smiley*

& johnK, i`d like to but the swim over there will be far too tiring for me *smiley* I don`t ride in planes anymore... They`re far too dangerous *smiley*

I fly this thing every weekend but won`t hop into a plane again--->

yeah, power to weight ratio is far far better with the R1 than it is for the V8, the V8 was a just a drunken joke really,,, it`s going into the speedway mini.
