Ok Guys and Gals,

Over here in Australia we talk Horse Power figures at the wheels, 99% of the time, this is due to the most part that we have vehicle chassis dyno's more available to the general public than engine dyno's.

but what seems to be a funny thing is that most of Europe especially UK talk flywheel HP even though Chassis Dyno's are far more availabel than engine dyno's too.

So my two questions are:

why is this ??

second can some people please tell me there HP figures at the wheels ad how you calculate thi into HP at the flywheel?

The car is power tested on it's wheels,then run back down on the dyno in neutral-this works out the transmission losses

Hi,
I think it's because the flywheel HP is a bigger number and so sounds better. It is what you've got at the wheels that counts!
Has for how to work it out I think there may be a formula or figure in the Vizard bible as a sort of rough guide. It is worked out on the rollers by the method mentioned above.
