I am in need of a cheap pre 1976 subframe (twin bolt per side type) to rebuild for my mini and know where i can get a auto sub frame for a decent price. Will this fit the metro turbo engine ok?

I know the auto subframe pushes the engine closer to the grill but will this effect the drive shafts and gear selector etc....

Any advice appreciated.

I think its slightly wider, so spacers are needed on the bottom 2 mounts.

Tom Fenton will be able to clear it up as I beleive he uses one on his turbo mini.

I used a bit of 1/4" thick plate each side with a couple of holes in, between the engine mounts and sub frame each side

I used some spacers, about 4mm each side. I also used a slightly longer gear selector rod and a longer "dog bone" engine steady.

Are the longer gear selector and engine steady available to buy or is fabrication of the origionals needed?

Hence would i be better off waiting till i find a standard front subframe as i cannot weld or fabricate etc..

Thanks for all the responses.

Gear selector off a metro, dog bone off an injection mini.

To be honest I would find a manual subby if poss, next time I remove the engine of my car it will be getting a manual sub in it.
