That's pretty interesting. A reverse split-power system through a planetary.

Trying to manufacture, and balance that planetaty set whilst finding a tooth pitch that maintain a sensible pitch-line velocity at those speeds, will be a real challenge. Mind you - the small diameter will help (but make manufacturing more difficult)...

A pretty interesting idea all the same.

The starter-motor on the end of the pulley is telling me that this isn't a 12v system maybe though???
Edit - it does mention 12v... *laughing*
Will be interesting to see how it progresses.

I didnt read it all...but isnt the blower just similar Rotrex's offering ???

Or indeed, was there the Antonov geared blower in a similar fashion ???

Due to the high electrical requirements, I cant see an electric supercharger ever being a realistic option. It just doesnt make much sense when you already have an engine spinning making enough power to drive any blower you want.

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Hi,
This unit IS the vehicles starter motor and alternator too!
I've also seen an alternator driven by the exhaust gasses via the tubine end of a turbo!
Cheers,
Gavin :)

says in teh pdf that is uses the same system as rotrex superchargers. these are friction based, all the "gears" in the planetary system are smooth. they are "lubricated" with a sticky fluid that stops them slipping(reffered to as traction fluid). early rotrex chargers (frm the experience of me mates) failed all the time due to being ran off engien oil which was too slippy so rotrex switched over to self lubricating units.
