Done a bit more today,

trimed up the flanges on the runners and welded them into the plenum backplate, was having big problems until i realised the footpedal on my tig isn't working properly, i'm only getting about 50A flat out so couldn't get enough heat into the plate, so just used the torch trigger in the end, an extra 100A made much lighter work of it!! shame i didn't work out the problem was the foot pedal when i was doing the other bits.

after that i tigged on the stub stacks.

after that i was just about out of gas so had to leave it there.

Cheers Vegar,

Sorted out the hall effect sensor mount for the crank damper today, I did a quick one before, but forgot about the rad being in the way because the S damper is further out than a Std one so this is the Mk 2 attempt!!

and fitted.....

Came out not to bad, a bit over kill, but i like stuff sturdy!

Right, after considerable slacking recently i'm about to push on with this, I had come to a bit of a dead end due to not quite being able to fit the fuel rail under the bonnet, I remember Dars also had this problem with his so my solution may be of use to him also.

I have bought a set of short Pico injectors, IWP069's which are rated at 490cc/min or about 300 hp, They are roughly an inch shorter than a std injector!!

These together with a new set of injector bosses and some fuel rail mods will give me that extra bit of clearance i've been struggling to find.

So now i have the injectors a can knock up the new bosses and sort the fuel rail proper, so i'll have some pics of this soon.

Also on a spending spree i bought an ally rad (it was the right price) so heres some pics of that, interestingly it has one big core kind of taking the theory behind the 2 core rads a bit further.

Oh also regarding the injectors, smaller ones can be found in a number of fiats (Brava's, barachetta's, belingos ect) and in some bikes. but i went for some after market ones.

hopefully heres the datasheets.

Looks like I have finally got the fuel rail sorted!!

I've cut the injector bungs off 3 times now and done 2 fuel rails LOL! means the weldings a bit ropey but not too bad considering i'd never used a tig until i started this!

it all screws together and misses the bonnet reinforcing struts by a good 1/2" now, all thanks to the TINY!! pico injectors. Glad this bits finally out of the way. Next job is to duct the 4 runners in and make the flange for the vauxhall throttle body. that bit'll be much easier.

Managed to get a clearence pic with the bonnet shut too...

Looking like a nice setup that!

Have you managed to source the correct length sparkplugs yet.?

Also I had a good look at head at MINISPIT the other day, and they look like they almost run horizontal into the chambers to.

Very interested in seeing it come together.

Si,

Yes and no, there is a plug the right length from something american, but i reckon its going to be to hot a plug,

so instead i'm going to look at counterboring plug hole into the head a bit more so i can use any of the 10mm x 3/4"plugs from large bikes, failing that, i'll look at modding the plugs...

other than that a could cut the chamber back toward the plug, but i don't really want to do that as it'll cock the shape up.

was the head you looked at a bare casting or a finished head?
what cere the chambers like? did the apear to be cut back a lot toward the plug? say in comparison to this...

your dead right about the plugs being nearly horizontal, i gues they can only be angled about 10-15 degrees from flat

The mondo plugs are 14mm thread, i need 10mm,

started to cover the front in today, have attatched the main 3.5" plenum pipe, after checking it clears everything.

Beats using bits of blue tac and seeing if it gets squished by the bonnet.
