Guys, could I get your opinion on whether I should finish this head off (for a high boost 1275 using stock turbo pistons) or start a new one ?

Some time ago I milled out a turbo head in search of cc's to up the boost.

I have taken 2mm out of the roof of the chamber, as part of this I have essentially moved the valve seats 2mm into the head, but they are not sunken/shrouded as the rest of the roof has been removed also.

The valve spring bases and rocker pedistals will be packed up 2mm and the push rod length can be adjusted up on the rocker screw.

I also had unleaded ex valve seats put in. And the chamber shape needs taking out at the back wall.

I also throated out the inlet port to allow an NA MG inlet valve to be fitted.

Will this work or is it a bad idea?

I just want to way up the pro's and the cons ie moving valve seats up 2mm

I have probably spent 100 quid on it in terms of having unleaded seats put in, new inlet guides fitted and the casting was pressure tested.

It still needs the chambers smoothing to remove milling marks, a light scim, the guides tapering and the valve seats cutting and grinding in as well as some packing spacers making up.

I think its gonna give a good size combustion chamber, getting on for 30cc's.

Your thoughts would be appriciated.

Cheers

I think Jukka took the deeper valves approach.

apart from that it all sounds good, (not that i'm a head expert)

Thanks guys,

I think as I have taken the rest of the roof out as well, I don't think there should be an issue with shrouding.

I think it needs a bit more grinding out around the chamber towards the gasket in general though. Something along the lines of what Steve has done for you matty, yours looks the business by the way *smiley*

Cheers
