My XP laptop has "Windows Movie Maker" on it, this is plenty good enough to do the things you describe, e.g. fade in out, add music and titles etc.

Look at http://media.putfile.com/tour-of-cadwell-park for an example of what I managed to make it do.

No offence, but I loathe Premiere, it's a very capable bit of software, but it take a lot of getting used to.

Unless you are going in for anything fancy, Pinnacle Studio is very intuitive and has all the bells and whistles most amateurs require.

stowmaket suffolk

ive used loads of different types.

and found windows movie maker (sp2 edition) is proberly the best ive come across.

one of the best bits is you can state what size you want the file to be and it will save it for you others you have to prat about to get to a set size, this makes it ideal for uploading to websites ect.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

I use pinnacle with ok results i think, i've also got premiere waiting to go on when i free up some space, i used the XP movie maker at work recently and tbh though it was as good as pinnacle for what i needed.
