hi

done a quick search but couldnt find it.

is there two differnt types of avonbar phase two cams?? a newer one and a older type?

if so what is the differnce in performance drivability etc?

I thought there was just a phase 2 and a phase 3 ?The phase 3 being a bit lairy for the road ?

BTW - I took my buddy VTEC Pete out for a spin this weekend, and even though I am running her in, he gave it a name, the "Brocket"...cause I'm a brocket maaannn, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah....

im sure i read somwere though that there is a older type and a newer type??

i could of just made it up in my head though lol

older type had less exhaust timing around 284 ° if memory ok, the new one have more: 294 °

is it a noticable differnce or you would never tell the differnce?

you would notice the difference as the reason why the timing was changed was so the lift could be increased, i.e it wasnt just a timing change. How much difference it would really make is impossible to say without back to back testing, but i can garantee it WOULD be noticeable.

now steady on, noboy mentioned being improved. Afterall i think cam choice is purely based on application, but others may not agree.

but a new cam is better than a second hand one right?
what you would you rather have in your engine then? the older or the newer type?
or am i just getting into a massive topic about everthing else of the engine etc?

If the second hand camshaft is in good condition and numbered cam followers or new ones are used this should not be a problem.I have built engines using second hand parts and they have been fine .Also depends on your budget.As for type of cam , kent turbo , avonbar turbo etc.This depends on you want from your engine.
Big subject , and i`m not a techy , just pratical with a budget ,so ..
