Does anyone know what strength valve springs are recommended when using an Avonbar phase 2 cam with standard rockers?

I appreciate that the springs need to be matched to the valve train and have seen the effects of springs that are too weak & too strong, and neither are pretty.

From searching old posts it appears that Turbo Dave and Alex F are both running 180 lb springs, but that was a couple of years ago, and I don't know if they are still running them or not.

I realise that I could just buy a complete cam kit from Avonbar and use the springs in that, but I've already got a set of 180 lb springs*, so it would seem silly to buy the full kit if the only bit I need is the cam.

:EDIT: * = 180 lb is what it took to bind them when I measured them with a drill press the bathroom scales.

I've built loads of heads recently, and I have never used the inner spring locators. Cannot really see that there's a problem obmitting them. Anyone else with opinions on this?

Minispares do several sets of springs, just to add. I guess you won't need the hardest ones.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

The high rate springs I have used are "coil bound" between the inner and outer springs so the inner springs cannot wander.
