Hi guys,

This is just a toes in the water thing, i can get the tube ive been using for my intercooler setup at pretty reasonable prices. 1" 1.5" 2" 2.5" 3" etc sizes available. 90 degree bends, equal T sections, straight tube, reducers concentric and off centre.

example price

2" mandrel bend 16 gauge 316L stainless - £10
2" equal T - £14

This is very corrosion resistant, used in the food trade for things like transporting milk! Also used to marine exhausts, so dosent mind corrosive environments *wink*

Heres some of the parts used in my car -

Would anyone be interested???

Cheers

J

I would be interested in some 60mm dia stainless tube for an induction pipe and some 51mm dia for some intercooler pipes.

And some 32mm for some rad pipes

I think the induction pipe will just one 30 deg bend in it.

I can PM you when I have the designed the sweeps I need ?

Cheers

I would be interested too. Are the sections pre bent or can they be bent to a drawing?

If pre bent only what angle sweeps are available?

Do you know the grade of stainless used for sure? If it's from the food industry the quality will be good but might be fun to weld .... although you have done ok it would seem.

What wall thickness is the material and is the quoted size OD or ID?

Sorry for all the questions.

Sounds a daft question but what max / min lengths of straight tube can you get?

Well it depends guys

I can get 90 degree bends, in 1/2" increments OD. I am not forming them myself, just getting them from my suppliers.

If a drawing is provided i may be able to fabricate your intake system, this drawing will have to be damn accurate though and probably in three dimensions depending on what is needed.

I am 100% sure it is 316L stainless, one of the most corrosion resistant grades available.

Brocky -

The intake pipe would have to be 51mm and then use a silicone reducer to get to 60mm.

RogerM -

Bends are preformed with a mandrel at 90 degrees. All sizes are OD, and the wall is 16 gauge or 1.6mm.
It'll weld just fine using an argon sheild, back purging is recommended.
Straight sections are available from 1m up to 3m.

Gav -

I can cut and weld bends to a design, but getting it translated into 3D really requires the car to be present.

Cheers

Straights can be gotten in 6m lenghts ( at least thats all my local suppliers do )
Not that they post easy lol

I think a lot of those bends come in 304 grade too, but it usually says on them.

All top quality stuff, I use the same myself, although my welding is pathetic compared to yours !
I really need a TIG :(

Stainless is only truly fire proof when you get into the nickel grades, such as inconel etc.

The good thing about this stainless is is conductivity compared to mild steel and cast iron, check it out -

Also this is a good article on stainless steel -

If its gets to the stage where your stainless pipes are on fire....I think its the least of your worries lol.
