IMHO it is worth using it right back to the knuckle in the manifold and turbo jacket too!!

Helps the turbo and also the reduction in underbonnet temperatures makes it a much nicer place to be for everything else thats under there.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Got to be carefull with exhaust wrap and stainless exhausts. It transforms the stainless into putty *wink*

Mild steel and cast are fine though.

Personaly i hate the stuff.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Midlands

i've just done my manifold in it on me new build and i've noticed the difference in temp under the bonnet from my old engine. My inlet manifold used to get real hot but it's touchable now just after shutdown.

I am afraid that I have to disagree with you everybody other than Sprocket here.

I have built quite a few turbo cars with wrapped manifolds and turbo jackets and it has never been a problem in terms of reliability.
I must admit that I have never used a blanket on a turbo in a Mini mainly as they are a pain to fit in such a confined space but also as I would be slightly concerned about turbo temps too, running a thermocouple on the turbo housing for a while would prove / disprove if that would be a long term problem.
If I was using a smaller water cooled core I would consider using a blanket though.

The exhaust wrap on the manifold help a great deal IMHO.

As sprocket says, don't wrap a stainless exhaust unless you like buying them on a monthly basis!!!!
Polishing it will get you more points at the show n' shine anyway ..... LOL *wink*

Hi,
As Mirage manifolds are stainless, are these ok to wrap?
Does it need water for the wrap to turn stainless into putty?
Cheers,
Gavin :)

Remember that a turbo manifold will generaly run hotter under boost, compared to a NA manifold. Problem is clearly there with NA manifolds. Maniflow do not recommend it. Heat retention in the manifold can cause it to glow almost white hot, close to melting point

Up to you if you wrap your very nice and expensive manifold with the stuff. Just dont be surprised if it fails. Having said that, Mirrage will have made their manifold out of 321 stainless and not the 304 used in NA aplications. It may react differently. The wrap apparently draws the carbon out of the steel, as well as keeping the heat in, which is the whole point of the stuff, but defeats the point if your manifold melts
