i took my car for minor tuning yesterday after i got a new mot, it was a free tune-up so thort i'd take advantage of proper equipment, the guy noticed my engine is setup well although the point tips seem to be a little burnt hmmmm!

i also noticed that after fitting uprated poly bushes the engine was held in place far better but yesterday i noticed a knocking, anyhow i decided to investigate today, its only the pissing the bolt that go's in the block has only gone & broke :( F&$&ker

i dont know how to sort this as i cant get a drill in to drill it out,

so decided to fit an ultimate engine steady from a previous car on the opposite side to keep me going for now :( still not that happy though

also decided to dust over my rims with fresh paint, that went cack too, i have a run on one wheel

also got what i thought was a bargain timing light off egay, not a bargain, its really really shit!!! the strobe is about as bright as a candle, its an old 70's type that only connects to plug number1 & its lead :(

defo one of those really crap days for sure, i feel cold & still aching from the gym the other day too so not in billy-brightside mood :(

i'm meant to be going on a fairly long journey in it monday too! you watch, it'll be the weather that stops play tomorrow & if that happens i'm gonna stay in bed monday rant over with a sort of smirk-ish *tongue*

Must be my fault, as I've had a good day.

Built the 4-pin diff, put it on the box, set the preload, prepared the box to have the engine fitted tomorrow.

Set the idler end float, using a brand new idler gear.

Took all the pistons out of the engine to check the circlips. Only because I had a nightmare the other night and one of the circlips was not seated correctly and destroyed the engine. They were OK though but I had to check.

Only down side was that I went to my favourite scrap yard at Kettering, by the A14, to find it has been cleared out for "development" - shit, got to find another one now.

danboy really that would be top! the only way i can think off to drill whats left of the bolt out of the block is to cut a hole in the inner wing & use a long drill-bit to drill it out from under the wheel-arche, its sheared completely flush too! otherwise i'd have attaced it with one of those stud extracting sockets, i think the bolt must have had fatigue!

lessen learnt from this, new bolts to be used on stressed fixtures!!!

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Been there, it's a royal pain in the arse!

Get the fix plate as mentioned above, it's actually better than the original design IMHO. If your really stuck I could get one from Bingley and drop it in to you as I'm got to go to Cov anyway next week. Might be worth holding out for a free one though.

The ultimate will be fine on it's own so long as you don't drive the car hard till you've got it fixed properly.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
