If you try and have them opening like glass windows you will scratch them badly. You could try and cover them in some kind of protective film. You could also try and make your own small sliding panel in the window like racers have but im guessing you'd want your windows to be open fully. Another idea might be to make the window completely removable, but not sure how this could be done keeping good security.

i dont mind the windows having opening parts like on some of the race cars aslong as a i can make it secure, to be honest minis are'nt that hard to get into & if some yoke is going to put the glass through they'd just do it, aslong as i can get it as secure as a standard window i'd be happy

i just have memorys of using my dads minivan a while back & leaving a bag of crisps on the passenger seat, i came back to the van to find someone had slid the window open & nicked the crisps haha

Forget security in the classic sense. Get it into your mind that you have a soft top with the roof down all the time.

that is, lock everything out of site in the boot, and have a very good immobiliser.

i think i've come up with a half decent idea to make the mk1 slidey window conversion work in regards to security!

but i done know where these are available, i know minidoors have them on those streetfighter doors they do but they dont have a price for the mk1 window conversion?

If they are made to look standard then they should be just as secure, as no one will know any different!

This link may help.
