Hi, im fitting a trigger wheel today, and just wanted to check something..

in relation to the timing marks on the timing chain cover where should the missing tooth on the trigger wheel be? assuming that piston 1 is at TDC?

or taking a reference from the pulley where should the missing tooth be? e.g. is it 9:00 o’clock?

cheers. Mark

I think its usually 90 degrees before TDC. as per the above link

Even if it is not you can offset the figure in the map etc

Cheers Brocky *smiley*

Yeh, just read the one I linked and Toms putting it at TDC and then the sensor bracket he does positions the sensor 90 degs before this ie at the front of the engine. *smiley*

easiest way to explain it is to put the engine at TDC, the missing tooth at 12 and the sensor at 9...pretty sure thats how mine is, using toms sensor bracket and a pulley machined the same.

Its so the MJ sees that tdc on cylinder one is on it way!

It then has 90 degrees of engine rotation to decide what to do and then actually do it! Hence you can run a maxiumum of 50 degrees advance - it needs 40 degrees to make its mind up.
