About 2 hours to lash it in and make it work, then however long it takes you to tidy it up, mount things, make brackets, tape the loom up etc etc etc

So basically, a MAP unit could be used on an NA engine if you haven't got the turbo on yet (with a suitable map of course)? I have all the kit but just got the MG Metro engine in at the moment.

Look for Ford Fiesta leads from the right year.

You can use a MAP MJLJ on any engine you wish!

i'm unsure what route to take with the leads as i have another lil concern

as in

does my 998 not have the rubber damper in the bottom pulley

what type of pulley is correct for my 998 running megajolt, timing scatter is going to be better for sure anyway so thats not a concern really, i'm unsure whether to get a bolt-on/machined trigger wheel?

i think i'll read nics tech article again too :)

modding the pulley is fine as the scatter will only be very minor and only under the more extreme conditions where you'll probably be playing a little safe with the map to keep it all together.

The ultimate would be a toothed wheel mounted under the bolt and keyed to the centre of the inner part of the pulley and shaped to sit along side the pulley edge. If you'll notice the difference is a completely different story!

right i've been having a squizz, looking at my options & i think a bolt-on/weld-on trigger wheel that fits to mine is my option with the standard 998 pulley wheel, what you reckon chaps? i dont have a damper type & dont really want to buy one, is this route ok to take? cheers chaps

The std 998 pulley is a solid pressed steel thing with no form of damping and nothing to machine a trigger into.

I have had those come apart as they are only riveted together and not the strongest things in the world. It would be a shame to set everything up with one of those and have it fail (I'm not saying it will). I know Minispares sells new 1275 ones that are what most use for MJ etc.

I think you'll be better off with a 1275 type pulley to. Second hand one maybe???

998 Metros use a pulley with a damper that can be machined. I'm using one on mine.

when i did my megajolt i did it all in 2 afternoons, that was when i didnt have a clue what was what with it

My leads came from a N reg fiesta, and were the longest i saw, presumably all fiestas will be the same

now i know this does'nt seem to be the done thing but i think i'm gonna take the option of a bolt on/tack weld on trigger wheel like the pic below, plz advise, what are the benefits of the dampered pulley?
