As the title really, Ive just got my grubby mits on a spare block, I was thinking of doing the conversion as a long term project over the next 18 months.

Ive done a search but most of the old pics come up with a red cross! Im mainly after some pics of the block mods, just to see whats what!

Cheers

Matt

Matty, just a thought but it might be worth getting hold of the Specialist Componets build guide.... Answered all my questions.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Well for a start this one is my engine

Although i did all this on my own i severely recommend JohnK and specialist components bits. I was building my engine and making an awful lot of my bits myself when in reality the time i was spending would have been better spent doing proper work!!

As a first step buy his build guide as RogerM said, even if you don't buy the kit it gives you all the important considerations.

If you get stuck or want some specific pictures i have a few, but quite large file sizes, pm me your email and i can send some across that you are interested in.

Josh - the 1380 16v n/a motor in my gold car is running 163bhp @ 8200rpm - I'm limiting the motor to 8700rpm as torque is going off then, torque is "over" 100lb/ft from 3700 - 8500rpm. I'm expecting these figures to rise when I've developed a few areas mid this year.

The 8v in the clubby is yet to be strapped on the dyno but I'd expect "more than" 110bhp from it - this is all std BMW parts - no mods - and I'm sure it'll stop making useful torque at 7500/8000.

for forced induction power - Jimsters the man to ask at the moment.

JK

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

There`s quite a fair bit of room for improvement on these heads, & i`m expecting 10,000rpms & well over 200hp avaliable with the right stuff done inside of course. Things like short stroke sth African large journal 1071 crank & some decent rods/valves etc. Add about 25psi to all that & you should have a nice little race donk *smiley*

well that`s one of my plans in progress for my own sports sedan brick anyways.

Haha collected my block yesterday. :)

Bores look really good, shouldn't make to much difference as it will be going 1293 anyway!

One thing I noticed was there is no oil filter just a blanking plate, did rover do a standard remote filter arrangement at some point?

Ive got various sized cast plugs with quare lugs on the top, so planning to countersink head, wind these in, then braze them up!
